    Notes:

LAMBERT, Ronald Dick Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of the late Marilyn Black Lambert (2014). Loving father of Kathryn Lambert (Karol Korczynski), Margie Lambert-Sen (Maz) and Christine Lambert (Nicolas Proctor). Proud Grandpa of Egan, Sarah, Matthew, Emily, Dilara, Posy and James. Survived by his sister Betty Gleeson (Frank) and sister-in-law Judy Lambert. Predeceased by brother Robert Lambert and sister Joanne Macdonald. Ronald was born in Sophiasburgh Township, Prince Edward County and raised in Sudbury. He received his B.A. and M.A. at McMaster University, and his PhD from the University of Michigan. In 1966 he returned to Canada and taught Sociology at the University of Waterloo for the next 38 years. Ron's professional interests included the Sociology of Time and of Memory. Above all else was his love of family. This lead him to travel extensively to visit family and friends, and to pursue genealogical research. He and his wife Marilyn also had a lifelong commitment to helping immigrants and to social justice issues. They were proud to have supported draft resisters during the Vietnam War. They also sponsored multiple refugee families over the years and enjoyed being surrogate parents to many young people. Ron was a proud member of the community and was eagerly awaiting the completion of the LRT. Special thanks to Drs. Milio, Fowlis, Gregor, Stevens, Jahromi and all the other doctors, nurses and staff at Grand River Hospital. Thank you as well to the staff at the Sunshine Centre at Luther Village. After his wife and best friend of almost 50 years passed away in 2014, Ron was grateful for the many friendships he made at Luther Village. Ron's family will receive relatives and friends from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Grand River Hospital Foundation or Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
