    Martin, Seranus S., son of Manasseh and Magdalena Martin, was born in Waterloo Typ., Ont., Dec. 10, 1887; died at his home in Floradale, Ont., June 5, 1964; aged 76 y. 5 m. 26 d. In 1912 he was married to Blandina Gingrich, who died in 1956. Surviving are 3 sons (Elmer, Willard, and Floyd), 5 daughters (Lena - Mrs. John Snyder, Naomi - Mrs. Ephraim Hoffman, Valina, Lucinda, and Viola), 8 grandchildren, 3 brothers (David, Eden, and Ephraim), and 4 sisters (Rebecca - Mrs. Moses Martin, Valina - Mrs. Jeremiah Bauman, Lucinda - Mrs. Clayton Martin, and Salome - Mrs. Harvey Bauman). He was a member of the Floradale Church, where funeral services were held June 9, in charge of Rufus Jutzi.

    LENA SNYDER 1912- 2007 Lena died peacefully, with her family at her side, at Parkwood Mennonite Home in Waterloo, on Wednesday, February 21, 2007. She was in her 95th year. She was the beloved wife of John W. S. Snyder, who together joyfully shared 66 years of marriage. Dear mother of Kathleen (Carl) Snyder of Bloomingdale, Stuart (Margaret Bell) Snyder of Conestogo, Brenda (John) Hagey of Cambridge and mother-in-law of Peggy Snyder of Waterloo. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Unrau, Bradley, Joanna Snyder, Kevin (Anne) Snyder, Kristine Snyder, Jeffrey (Jill) Snyder, Sheila Snyder and Linford Clarke, Mark, Gregory, Brent, Nadine and Yves Hallman; great-grandchildren, Owen, Leah, Addison, Michaella, Bronwyn, Blake, Trent, P.J. and Tiana. Sister of Naomi Hoffman of Kitchener, Valina and Viola Martin of Elmira, Lucinda Martin of Wichita, KA, Willard (Melba) Martin of Goshen, IN. and Floyd (Ethleen) Martin of Waterloo. She was predeceased by her parents, Blendina (Gingrich) and Seranus Martin; son, James (1991), son-in-law, Peter Hallman (1999); sister, Ida in infancy; brother, Elmer and sister-in-law, Mabel Martin and brother-in-law, Ephriam Hoffman. Lena was a life long member of the Bloomingdale Mennonite Church, the WMCEC of the church and the Bloomingdale Women's Institute. Friends are invited to visit with the family at Bloomingdale Mennonite Church on Saturday, March 3, 2007, from 10 a.m. to 10: 45 a.m. A memorial service to celebrate Lena's life and faith will follow at 11 a.m. in the church with Rev. Mary Mae Schwartzentruber officiating. Cremation has taken place.     HOFFMAN, Naomi (nee Martin) 1916 - 2012 Passed away peacefully at Twin Oaks of Maryhill on Friday, March 9, 2012 at the age of 95. Beloved wife of Ephraim (2005); loving mother of Don and his wife Cheryl of Kitchener, Phyllis and her husband Gerry of Parry Sound and the late Larry and his late wife. Proud and loving grandmother of Brett Hoffman, Travis (Cheryl) Schmidt, Donna (Eoin) McKenna, Erin Hoffman (Wes Faria), Adam (Diane) Hoffman and Jordan Hoffman. Great- grandmother of Dylan, Dawson, Eoin and Taylor. Will be fondly remembered by her brother Floyd "Butch" Martin and sisters Valina Martin and Viola Martin. Pre- deceased by her parents Blendina and Seranus Martin; two brothers and two sisters. Naomi was a long-time and active member of Breslau Mennonite Church. She was also a volunteer with the Mennonite Relief Sale for many years. Valina was born in Woolwich Township on July 24, 1918 and lived in the Floradale, Elmira area for most of her life.     WILLARD MARTIN
    GOSHEN -- Willard "Dick" Martin, 89, of 1801 Greencroft Drive, Apt. 432, died Friday (Dec. 11, 2009) at 10: 18 a.m. in Goshen General Hospital.

    He was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Woolwich Township, Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada, to Seranus S. and Blendina (Gingrich) Martin. He married Melba Weaver on Dec. 15, 1962, at Yellow Creek Mennonite Church.

    She survives along with four sisters, Naomi (Ephraim) Hoffman of Kitchener, Ontario, Valina Martin of Elmira, Ontario, Lucinda Martin of Wichita, Kan., and Viola Martin of Elmira; and one brother, Floyd "Butch" Martin of Waterloo, Ontario.

    He was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Martin, and one sister, Lena Snyder.

    Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, is handling arrangements. Visitation is from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church, 1900 S. Main St., Goshen. The funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at College Mennonite Church with Pastors Gary Martin and Katie Cunningham officiating.

    Mr. Martin, formerly of Floradale, Ontario, began working in a sawmill with his father and brother Elmer while living in Canada and ultimately became head sawyer. He received a B.A. in history from Goshen College and a B.D. in theology from Goshen Biblical Seminary. After college, he worked eight years at the Mennonite Board of Missions, where he met his wife, in the 1-W program, serving as 1-W coordinator in Denver from 1964 to 1968. He also worked at the Great Commonwealth Insurance Company, the Wakarusa Farm Center and the Rochester Silo Company. He served in alternate service at Montreal River Camp in 1941, worked on a drilling crew on the TransCanada Highway, helped start Chesley Lake Camp in Ontario and served for 30 years at many Mennonite camps in Ontario, Illinois and Pennsylvania. He belonged to College Mennonite Church, was a volunteer with the Victim Offender Reconciliation Program and helped start the Pa. Deitsch Society of Northern Indiana and the Indiana-Michigan Open Golf Tournament. In retirement he golfed, read and did woodwork.

Viola was born in Floradale on December 8, 1925 and lived in the Elmira area for most of her life. Dear sister of Lucinda Martin of Wichita, Kansas and "Butch" (Floyd) Martin of Waterloo. Lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews Kathleen Snyder, Stuart Snyder, Brenda Hallman, Don Hoffman, Phyllis Schmidt and Kelly Martin, and by their families.
