    At Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital, on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1986, in his 83rd year, Gordon Westphal, of 300 Regina St. N., Waterloo. A chartered member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Former owner and operator of Bloomingdale General Store and was the first postmaster of Bloomingdale. Son of the late Edward Westphal and Mary Mogk; husband of the former Lillian Reinhardt; father of Robert and his wife Doris, Jack and his wife Margaret, all of Waterloo and Marlene and her husband William R. McDonnell of Mississauga; brother of Carl of Kitchener; grandfather of Kelly, Kim and Tracey McDonnell, Christine and her husband Gary Steffler, Robert and Bev Westphal, Robin, Kevin and David Westphal. Also survived by five great-grandchildren. Predeceased by one sister, Hilda (Mrs. Eldon Mueller) and two brothers, Harry and Norman. Visitation at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home and Chapel, 51 Benton at Church St., until 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, when complete funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m., Rev. Harold Brill of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church officiating. Interment Parkview cemetery, Waterloo.

    Peacefully, at A.R. Goudie Eventide Home, on Tuesday, Oct. 12,1999, at the age of 90.

    Carl was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and was the last member of his immediate family.

    Beloved son of the late Edward and Mary (nee Mogk) Westphal. Predeceased by his sister, Hilda Mueller and brothers, Harry, Norman and Gordon.

    Loving uncle to Jack, Bob, Pat and Mike Westphal, Marlene McDonnell, Janet Scott, Marie Chipman and the late Harold Mueller. Will be sadly missed by many grand nieces and nephews. Visitation at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home and Chapel, 51 Benton at Church St., Kitchener, 742-4481 today (Thursday) from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., in the funeral home chapel. Interment St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.
