BOWMAN.--Jonas L. Bowman was born Dec. 17,1864; died while visiting with his daughter, Edna Bowman Weber, at the Mission Home in Toronto, Oct. 16, 1930; aged 66 y. 9 m. 29 d. He was in his usual good health until a few weeks ago, when he developed acute bronchitis, and later was stricken with paralysis, to which he succumbed after lingering five days. He was predeceased by his first wife (Barbara Koch) about 28 years ago, and by his second wife (Catherine Snider) only last January. He leaves two sisters (Mrs. Henry Bowman and Mrs. Moses Martin), 4 daughters (Seleda, Alice, Mrs. L. S. Weber, and Mrs. J. M. Taylor), 1 step-daughter (Mrs. Roy N. Yoder), besides a host of other relatives and friends. He was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church with the Kitchener and Waterloo congregations for over forty years. A short funeral service was conducted by L. J. Burkholder of Markham, at the Mission Home, 85 Gledhill Ave., Toronto, on Friday evening, Oct. 17. On the following day the body was sent to Waterloo Mennonite Church, and burial in the First Mennonite Cemetery at Kitchener. Bro. Noah Hunsberger conducted the services, assisted by Bro. Jesse B. MENNO B. BOWMAN

Menno B. Bowman, 83, of RR 1, Elmira, died Saturday, April 29 at K-W Hospital.

He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bowman of Woolwich Township.

He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Elizabeth Brubacher, in 1914. His second wife, Eliza Martin died in 1937. His third wife, Rebecca Martin, survives.

Also surviving are six sons. Levi of RR 2. Wallenstein; Elias of RR 1. Wallenstein; Jesse of RR 1, St. Jacobs; Henry of RR 1. Alma; Aaron of St. Thomas, John of RR 1. Elmira; one daughter, Mrs. Angus (Lydia) Weber; 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Two sons predeceased him.

The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira. The funeral was held Tuesday at his home followed by a service and burial in North Woolwich Mennonite Meeting House.

Blackie district was shocked by the news of the death of Mrs. Lovina Weber, beloved wife of Bert Weber of Blackie. Although Mrs. Weber had not been in good health for some time her sudden passing in Banff hospital on Feb. 12 was quite unexpected.

The bereaved family includes her husband and three sons, Edgar of Grande Prairie; Ralph and Harry of Blackie. Five brothers also survive are Neah Bowman of Listerville, Ontario; Abram, Milton, Alvin and Titus of Humboldt, Sask.

Mrs. Weber was born in Kitchener, Ont., and was 65 years of age. She was married to Bert Weber in 1901, and they came west to the Blackie district in 1918. She was a member of the United Church Ladies' Aid, and played a helpful and kindly part in all neighborly associations and in the community.

Funeral services were held from High River United Church on Tuesday Feb. 15 with Rev. Dr. J. M. Fawcett officiating, assisted by Rev. C. A. Warren. Interment was in Highwood cemetery with the Snodgrass Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

The funeral was very largely attended by friends from Blackie and the Dinton district, and the floral tributes were beautiful. Dr. Fawcet's address on "Home" brought out many appropriate thoughts in memory of Mrs. Weber who was a home-loving woman. A duet by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Randle and a solo by Mrs. Fawcett of Blackie were part of the musical serivce.

Pallbearers at the funeral were Jack Walker, Joe Leslie, Jack Green, Wm. Dickenson, Walter Richardson and John Webb.

MRS. AARON B. MARTIN

Mrs. Aaron B. Martin, 65, of R.R. 1, Wallenstein died Tuesday night, February 24, at her residence. She was the former Sarah Bowman, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Peter Bowman of Woolwich Township.

Surviving are her husband; five sons, Urias of Calgary, Amos, R.R. 3, Wallenstein; Joseph of Hawkesville, Sidney at home and Samuel of Kitchener; three daughters, Lydian and Mrs. Ibra (Salome) Brubacher of St. Jacobs and Melinda of Hawkesville; two brothers, Jonas of Alberta and Peter of Floradale; and two sisters, Mrs. Norman Martin of St. Jacobs and Mrs. David Martin of Wallenstein.

The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor until Thursday at 9 a.m., thence to the residence for a service Friday at 9: 30 a.m. A service followed at the South Peel Mennonite Meeting House with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Amos B. Martin of Elmira died July 22 at Heritage House, St. Jacobs, after a brief illness. He was 80. Mr. Martin was born in Woolwich Township and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Martin. He was a member of the Elmira congregation of the Jehovah Witnesses. Floradale
On Saturday, Feb. 15, there died in Peel Township, a short distance from here, Mariana Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Martin, of nervous prostration, resulting from an attack of influenza. Her earthly remains were interred in the local Mennonite Cemetery, where a large cortege of friends and relatives were in attendance. The preachers, Messrs. Joseph Gingrich and Amos Gingrich conducted the burial service in which they drew attention to the uncertainty of life as illustrated by the death of the departed who had reached the age of 15 years and 11 months. We offer our sincere sympathy to the mourning relatives. May the Almighty console them with the hope of a future re-union.

BOWMAN, Henry B. - On Tuesday, Sept. 11, 1979, at the K-W Hospital, Henry B. Bowman, age 75 years, of Route 1, Elmira.

He was a son of the late Rev. and Mrs. John Bowman. Surviving are his beloved wife, Sulinda Martin; three daughters, Mrs. Archibald (Almeda) Krieger of Kitchener, Mrs. Vernon (Edna) Shoemaker of Route 1, Elora, Mrs. Willard (Viola) Lichty of Route 2, Drayton; and two sons, Abner of Floradale and Clayton of Elmira. Five brothers, two sisters and 14 grandchildren also survive. One son and his twin brother predeceased him.

Visitation was at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira, until Thursday morning, when removal was made to his home for a private funeral service, thence to the North Woolwich Mennonite Meeting Hose for further service and burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Baer, Mrs. Velina - On Monday, Oct. 21, 1991, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, after a very brief illness. She resided in New Hamburg and was born in Woolwich Township, 85 years ago, a daughter of the late Norman and Magdalena (nee Bowman) Martin.

She was a member of Nith Valley Mennonite Church, RR 1, New Hamburg, where she was a member of the WMSC. Velina was a member of Haysville Sunshine Club, a member of the Wilmot Horticultural Society and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and gardening as her hobbies.

Beloved wife of Oscar Baer, whom she married November 19, 1941.

Dear mother of Esther and her husband Allan Etchells and Abner, all of Waterloo; lovingly remembered by three grandchildren, Kimberly and her husband Chris Perkins, Stephanie and Megan and one great-granddaughter, Sarah. MARTIN, Oscar B. Peacefully on Monday, March 5, 2012 at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital. Oscar, was in his 91st year, of St. Jacobs. Beloved husband of Delores (Snyder) Martin for 60 years. Dear father of Brian John and Judith Martin of Waterloo. Also lovingly remembered by his grandson, Kyle William. Brother of Lena Schmitt of Elmira and Almeda Schiedel of Stratford. Predeceased by his parents, Norman F. and Magdalena Martin, three brothers Melvin, Norman, Oliver in infancy, and two sisters Velina Baer and Selinda Weber. Oscar was an avid walker on the trails in St. Jacobs and worked at B.F. Goodrich Tire Company, Kitchener for 40 years. At Oscar's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral home visitation. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the Dreisinger Funeral Home Chapel, Elmira on Thursday, March 8th at 11: 00 a.m. with Rev. MARTIN, Onias B. Passed away peacefully at Heritage House Nursing Home, St. Jacobs, on Thursday, September 9th, in his 90th year. Onias was a life-long farmer and resident of Woolwich Township. He was predeceased in November 1998 by his wife of 46 years, Minerva (Hoffman, Bauman, Scheifele).
