    On Saturday, Sept. 8, 1984, at her residence, Nithview Home, New Hamburg, Mrs. Roxie Hostetler, aged 95 years. She was very active bowler for many years and enjoyed club swinging, tatting and quilting. She was a daughter of the late Aaron Hostetler and Samantha Toman [sic]. Beloved wife of Harry Hostetler who predeceased her in 1950. Dear mother of Donald and his wife Betty of Guelph; beloved grandmother of Linda (Mrs. David Webb), Wendy (Mrs. Barry Collette), James and his wife, Sandra Sadly missed by 3 great-grandchildren, Peter, Julie and Kelly; one sister, Mrs. Wayne Mitchell and sister-in-law, Mrs. Katie Toman. Predeceased by one son, Woodrow in 1944; one daughter, Wanda in 1918, three brothers, Clayton, Ranald and Iris; four sisters, Bertie, Effie, Cora and Ruby. Services were held from the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. Internment followed in Riverside cemetery.     Mrs. George A. Guthrie Passes At Greenfield

    The death occurred on Tuesday night at the home of her son, James W. Guthrie, Greenfield, of Mrs. George A. Guthrie, in her 60th year. She had been ill for a lengthy period.

    Mrs. Guthrie was born near New Dundee, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Toman. Her maiden name was Alberta Toman. She was a member of Knox United Church, Ayr, and was highly esteemed by a host of friends.

    Surviving are three sons, William and Hugh, Blenheim township, and James W., Greenfield. Her husband predeceased her six years ago. Also surviving are three brothers and five sisters, as follows: Ira H. Toman, New Dundee; Clayton Toman, Wilmot township; Ronald Toman, Milverton; Mrs. Harry Hostettler (Roxie), New Hamburg; Mrs. George Wilson (Cora), Kinderley, Sask.; Mrs. Edward Welsh (Essie), Moosejaw, Sask.; Mrs. Frederick Baker (Ruby), Camptonville, Cal., and Mrs. David B.     Notes:

    Elgin Toman passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, July 23, 1994 at K-W Hospital, Kitchener. He was in his 81st year. Beloved brother of Ludena Sararas of Nithview Home, New Hamburg, Wallace Toman of Kitchener and Grace Holm of Roseville. Born in New Dundee, he was a son of the late Ira Toman and Ethel Kriesel. Predeceased by brothers Ralph, Ross and Pte. Burkle Toman who was killed in action overseas, and sister Rudene Bowman. Survived by a dear friend Brenda Wagler of New Hamburg, brother-in-law Howard Bowman , as well as several nieces and nephews. Elgin was employed at Clefthaven Farms for 35 years, and over so many years became good friends of Orville and Ruth Fried and families. Elgin continued to enjoy horseshoe pitching achieving the honour of becoming Canadian Horseshoe Pitching Champion. While a longtime resident of Nithview Home, New Hamburg, Elgin enjoyed many hours persuing his favourite sport of shooting pool. He was a member of St. James' Lutheran Church, New Dundee. The family received friends at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, Kitchener, where funeral services were held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, July 26th. Rev. Gerald Schwartzentruber and Rev. Jim Slack officiated. Interment New Dundee Union Cemetery.

The little girl was seriously ill about a year ago, from the effects of which she never fully recovered. She was a bright little girl and the pride of her parents, who have the sympathy of their many friends in their sad loss. The funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon at two o'clock to the Baptist Church and Riverside Cemetery.

    TOMAN, Walter H. - Passed into Glory, peacefully at his residence, in Wilmot Township, on Thursday, May 26, 2005. He was born 71 years ago on April 27, 1934 at the family farm, a son of the late Clayton H. and Kathryn (Sararas) Toman.Walter was an active member of New Dundee Baptist Church where he had served as both Deacon and Trustee. He worked 47 years as an electrician and plumber, partnering with his brothers in Frank Toman Plumbing and Electric. Walter was a member of the New Dundee Board of Trade, the Property Committee of Camp Hermosa, Gideons International, and a volunteer with SOWERS. He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed travelling, reading and more recently curling and lawn bowling.Beloved wife of Tina (nee Loewen) whom he married July 17, 1965. Loving father of Mark and Sandy Toman of Fergus and Phil and Mary Beth Toman of Waterloo. Devoted grandpa of Laura, Krista, Abigail, Kathryn and William. Sadly missed by sister, Alice and Peter Schmidt of Kitchener and brother, Elwood and Gerry Toman of Wilmot Township. Also remembered by sister-in-law, Reta Toman of Wilmot Township; a number of Loewen brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and their families. Mr. Guthrie was a member of Knox United Church, Ayr. Surviving are his wife, the former Doretha (Dee) Sherwood; three sons John of Kitchener, Robert of Edmonton and David of Woodstock; a daughter Mrs. Lyle (Myrna) MacCharles of Kingston; also four grandchildren. Born at the family farm where he farmed his whole life, George was the son of Wayne (Toman) and David Brown Mitchell. He was a long standing member of the Ayr Curling Club, Knox United Church, Ayr and a member of the Hayseeds/ Tartans Band. George competed in local and international plowing matches for fifty years, and was a former Director and Past President of the North Dumfries Plowing Match. George was also an avid deer and moose hunter. Surviving is his wife Shirley Douglas; his three daughters Brenda Mitchell of Paris, Pat and her husband John Elliott of Ayr, and Carol and her husband Mark Monaghan of Bermuda; his seven grandchildren Lindsay, Jesse, Tayler, Turner, Dawson, Jack and Sydney; his brother William Mitchell and his wife Dorothy of Ayr; his sisters-in-law Janis Mitchell of RR 4, Bright and Marilyn and her husband Bill Scott of RR 2, Drumbo; and his several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, George was also predeceased by two brothers Douglas and Robert Mitchell. Reverend Fred Hagle of Knox United Church, Ayr conducted funeral services at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home on Monday, October 25. Interment was in Ayr Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bruce Mitchell, Brad Mitchell, Ron Cochrane, Brett Butcher, George Ronald and David Dance.

    Robert Toman Mitchell passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on August 1st, 1998. Born on November 4th, 1937, he was in his 61st year. Bob was born and lived his entire life on the Mitchell home farm at RR 4, Bright. He was predeceased by his parents Wayne (Toman) and David Mitchell. Bob enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, curling and horseshoes. His greatest love was his family and his special gift of music. He will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend Janis (Lehman) who he married on October 5th, 1957; his children Kim and her husband Dan Michiels of RR 3, Bright, Brad of RR 4, Bright, Robin and her husband Mike Ward of RR 1, Ayr, Trisha and her husband Mark Robb of RR 1, Drumbo and Sandra and her husband Brad Lennox of Keg Lane, Paris; his grandchildren Danielle and Kristin Michiels, Ashley and Russell Mitchell, Bethany and Justin Ward, Mitchell and Miranda Robb, Carter, Baylee and Rylee Lennox; and his brothers George and his wife Shirley and Bill and his wife Dorothy, all of Ayr. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Douglas. Private family funeral service was held at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home. Interment was in Ayr Cemetery.
