Dear husband of Sally (Gedcke) of Cambridge; father of Robert (Bob) and Edna of Mitchell, Jack and Barbara of Welland, Carolyn and Joe Andrassy of Bradford, Dale and Ann Gedcke of Oakridge, Tenn.; brother of Ed and Florence of New Hamburg, Roy John of Waterloo and Mabel Quandt of Plattsville; loving grandfather of Tom, Dave, Bill, Jeffrey, Steven and Scott Hiller, Andrew, Stephanie and Julie Andrassy, Jeff, Scott and Kimberley Gedcke. Also survived by five great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife, Erna Betzner; sister, Alice Honderich and brother, Oliver. Mr. Hiller was a member of Highland Road Baptist Church, Rockway Lawn Bowling Club and was a veteran of the First World War. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the Ratz-Bechtel Chapel, Wednesday at 2 p.m., with Rev.     Oliver H. Hiller of 105 Brubacher St., died on Saturday at K-W Hospital. He was 70. Born in New Hamburg on May 11, 1897, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hiller and came to Kitchener 45 years ago. Mr. Hiller was salesman for Reward Shoe stores and was formerly employed as a toolmaker at the rubber machinery shops until poor health due to war injuries forced him to retire. He was later employed by the R. Goldsworthy Co. He was a member of Benton Street Baptist Church and was a member of the Kitchener legion branch. Mr. Hiller enlisted with the 111th Battalion and served overseas in the First World War and was injured at Vimy Ridge in 1918. Surviving are is wife, the former Leonora Suckert whom he married Jan. 15, 1924; one son, Donald, Kitchener; two daughters, Mrs. David (Margaret) Hubert, Galt, and Mrs. Paul (Marian) Puncher, Waterloo; three brothers, Alvin, Kitchener; Edwin, New Hamburg, and Roy, Waterloo; one sister, Mrs. William (Mabel) Quandt, Plattsville and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Bruce, and one sister, Mrs. Delford (Alice) Honderich. They body is at the Sandrock Funeral Home where the service will be conducted on Wednesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Fred Davison. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery. Donations to the building fund at Benton Street Baptist Church will be accepted as expressions of sympathy.

    Oliver H. Hiller

    A native of New Hamburg and a long-time resident of Kitchener, Oliver H. Hiller died December 2 in hospital in Kitchener, at the age of 70.

    A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hiller, he was born at New Hamburg May 11, 1897, and moved to Kitchener about 45 years ago.

    He was employed by Reward Shoe stores as a salesman, but was forced to retire due to war injuries. Later he was employed by the R. Goldsworthy Co.

    The late Mr, Hiller was a member of Benton Street Baptist Church, and a member of the Kitchener Legion branch. He enlisted with the 111th Battalion and served overseas in the First World War, and was injured at Vimy Ridge in 1918.

    Surviving are his wife, the former Leonore Stuckert whom he married in Kitchener on Jan. 15, 1924; one son, Donald, Kitchener; two daughters, Mrs. David (Margaret) Hubert, Galt, and Mrs. Paul (Marian) Puncher, Waterloo; three brothers, Alvin, Kitchener; Edwin, New Hamburg, and Roy, Waterloo; one sister, Mrs. William (Mabel) Quandt, Plattsville, and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Bruce, and one sister, Mrs. Delford (Alice) Honderich.

    The funeral service was conducted at Kitchener Wednesday by Rev. Fred Davison and burial followed in Woodland cemetery.


    Military:

    Baden - Mrs. Delford Honderich, 62, of Baden died Friday at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, after a lingering illness. The former Alice Hiller, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hiller, she was born in Wilmot Township and had lived in Baden for the past four years. She was an adherent of the Reformed Mennonite Church near New Hamburg. She is survived by her husband; four sons, Glenn of Baden, Ronald and Calvin of New Hamburg and Stuart of RR 2, New Hamburg; one daughter, Marlene, at home; four brothers, Edwin of New Hamburg, Alvin, Oliver and Roy, all of Kitchener; one sister, Mrs. William (Mabel) Quandt, of Plattsville, and 14 grandchildren. The body will be at the Bruce J. Omand Funeral Home, New Hamburg, until Monday noon when removal will be made to the Reformed Mennonite Church for services at 2: 30 p.m. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Aaron Yost will officiate.

    It is with very heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing at his home Nithview Village, New Hamburg, with his family by his side on Sunday September 30, 2007 after courageous battle with cancer for the last two and half years. Ron was born 77 years ago in Wilmot Township and was the son of the late Delford and Alice (Hiller) Honderich. Survived by his loving wife Melba (nee Mair) of 57 years. Loving father to his son Laurie and wife Nancy Honderich, daughters Wendy and husband Rich Held, Brenda and husband Paul Carney all of New Hamburg and Debbie Snyder and friend Jim Miller of Wellesley. Sadly missed by his grandchildren, Brad (Sue) Honderich, Lisa (Paul) Holba, Melanie (Mike) Eichler, Stephanie Taves, Jennifer Scott (Kevin), Kris Carney (Trish), Amanda Carney, Tara (Dave) Kleine, Christina (Dave) Flood. Papa Ron to eight great-grandsons, Brady and Cooper Honderich, Colton Holba, Kaden Eichler, Tyler and Logan Kleine, Jacob and Montana Flood. Also remembered by his brother, Calvin (Madeline) Honderich; sister, Marlene (Alan) Parker; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shirley Honderich, Reta (Tristano) Langenegger, Gordon (Pat) Mair and many nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by brothers, Glen (Bevis) Honderich and Stuart Honderich. Ron was a member of Zion United Church, New Hamburg, the Restless Seniors and Wilmot Senior Shuffleboard. Ron enjoyed all the great times with family and enjoyed all sports with ball, hockey and golf being the favorites. He carved many beautiful carvings at the Wilmot Woodworking in Baden. Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg on Tuesday October 2, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday October 3, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Zion United Church, New Hamburg with Pastor Bob Thaler officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Zion United Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.     Stuart Honderich, 73, of Baden, passed away peacefully, in the presence of his loving family on February 9, 2005, after a short stay at K-W Health Centre of the Grand River Hospital, Kitchener. He was born on October 19, 1931, in Wilmot Township. Beloved husband of Shirley (Wettlaufer) Honderich. Loving father of Cathy and her husband John Young of Camlachie and Susan and her husband Gord Mills of New Hamburg. Dear brother of Ronald (Melba) Honderich, Calvin (Madeline) Honderich, Marlene (Allan) Parker and brother-in-law of Jean (Ernie) Faulhafer. Also remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Delford and Alice (Hiller) Honderich; a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Babes Honderich; and a cherished granddaughter, Hannah Young (February 3, 2005). Stuart was employed at J.M. Schneider Limited for 33 years and a member of the 25 year club. He was active in his church, Zion Lutheran Church in Philipsburg, where he served previously on church council. He was a charter member and past president of the Baden Optimist Club, active in the Wilmot Seniors Woodcarving Club, a member of the Wilmot Heritage Fire Brigade, enjoyed coaching minor softball and hockey and was a loyal Detroit Red Wings fan. He will always be remembered for his kind and gentle manner and his love of the outdoors, sports, music and gardening. There will be no funeral home visitation. A private family service will be held with interment in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Philipsburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ChildCan or the Optimist Childhood Cancer Campaign through the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, New Hamburg. (519-662-1661)

He was born 79 years ago in Wilmot Township and was the son of the late Delford and Alice (Hiller) Honderich. Beloved husband of Madeline (Schaaf) Honderich whom he married March 26, 1960. Loving father of Steven Honderich of Wilberforce, Mark and Christine Honderich of Guelph and Dean and Christine Honderich of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Jodie, Brooke, Nichole, Zachary, Claire, Cassandra, Natasha and great-granddaughters Mackenzie, Madison, Alexandra and Lily. Remembered by his sister Marlene and Alan Parker of Toronto, sisters-in-law Melba Honderich of New Hamburg, Shirley Honderich of Baden, brother-in-law Ernest and wife Elaine Tallman of Dorchester and many nieces and nephews. Cal was predeceased by his brothers Glenn and wife Bebes Honderich, Ronald Honderich and Stuart Honderich. Cal was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Petersburg and former member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, New Hamburg. He had been active in both minor softball and hockey in New Hamburg, helping coach, referee and umpire. He played many games of horseshoes over the years in the area.
