    SOCIAL EVENT-One of those happy events which will not soon be forgotten took place last Sunday evening at the residence of Mr. John Schneller. It being the 64th birthday of Mr.Schneller his three sons and a few of his many friends assembled and had a right, jolly, good time. Mr. Schneller is one of the old pioneers of Waterloo Township. He took possession of the farm on which he dwells 42 years ago when it was not much less than a big forest. With persevering industry he filled the denizens of the forest and has at present one of the finest farms in the township. By his frugality and industrious habits he has made such progress that a few years ago he bought another splendid farm now worked by his oldest son George. After partaking of those things which strengthen the inner man the crowd dispersed hoping that Mr. Schneller may long be spared yet to enjoy good health.

    MANNHEIM

    News Notes. - The funeral of the late Mr. George Schneller, which was held at the Lutheran church on Thursday of last week, was largely attended. Mr. Schneller was one of the early pioneers of this community. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved ones. Quite a number from here attended the funeral of Mr. Charles Poll, at Berlin. The late Mr. Poll lived in our village for some years and his mother still resides here. The bereaved family and relatives have our deepest sympathy.

    Henry Schneller By Chronicle Correspondent

    BADEN. Henry Schneller of Baden died early Saturday morning of a heart attack suffered at the home of his brother, William, with whom he made his home. The late Mr. Schneller was 82 years of age, having been born on Feb. 10, 1865, in Mannheim. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Baden. The deceased gentleman is survived by his brother, William, of Baden.

    A private funeral service was held on Monday afternoon at two p.m. at the home of his brother, William, followed by a public service at 2.30 at St. James' Lutheran Church. Rev. Mr. Friedrichsen of Philipsburg was the officiating clergyman and burial was made at the Mannheim cemetery.

Mr. Schneller was born in Mannheim and had lived in the Galt and Blair area, for a number of years; member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Preston.     Baden - A Baden farmer's innovation and conservation efforts have earned him a spot in the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame.

    Wilf Schneller, who lived from 1902 to 1987, is one of five industry leaders being inducted into the hall for 2019 for demonstrating visionary leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship in the advancement of agriculture in Ontario.

    Schneller was keen to learn and test new practices on Spruce Grove Farm, inspiring other famers to adopt new technology and management solutions.

    He also implemented new soil and water conservation methods on his farm to inhibit soil erosion. Schneller showed others how to implement these practices through farm tours, demonstration plots and presentations.

    Schneller became president of the Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association in 1954 and in 1959 was made an honorary member of the Soil Conservation Society of America.

    He planted more than 56 varieties of trees on his farm and helped to develop an arboretum near New Hamburg, which opened in 1964.

    The induction ceremony will take place June 9 at Country Heritage park in Milton.

    Mrs. Daniel Lemp, 76, died yesterday at Coutts Pavilion, Freeport, where she had been a patient for the past three years. Her husband had predeceased her. The late Mrs. Lemp was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. George (Selma) Kronmiller, of Cheverley, Manitoba, and one grandchild. The body is at the Bruce J.
