He died suddenly when stricken with cerebral thrombosis while preparing to load timber from the truck which he drove for a local sawmill. In 1918 he married Susannah Hoffman. He is survived by his wife, 3 sons (Cleason, Sudbury; Emmanuel, Elmira; and Leroy at home), 5 daughters (Mary-Mrs. Clayton Wideman, Elmira; Melinda, Elmira; Nancy-Mrs. Orton Bauman, Floradale; Edna-Mrs. Mervin Bauman, Drayton; and Eleanor, at home), 10 grandchildren, one brother (Emmanuel, Annville, Pa.), and 5 sisters (Mary-Mrs. Simeon Brubacher, Waterloo; Susannah-Mrs. David Martin, Waterloo; Rebecca-Mrs. Abram Martin, Wallenstein; Elizabeth-Mrs. Nathaniel Martin, Elmira; and Anna-Mrs. Joseph Martin, Linwood). Emmanuel Martin, 66, of Spinnerstown, Pa., died Friday at Quakertown Hospital. Born in Woolwich Township, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tilman Martin and moved to Pennsylvania at an early age. Surviving are his wife, the former Rachel Martin; five sons, six daughters and three sisters. The sisters are Mrs. David A.B. (Susannah) Martin of St. Jacobs, Mrs. Abraham (Rebecca) Martin of Wallenstein and Mrs. Nathaniel (Elizabeth) Martin of St. Clements. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister. The funeral was held Monday at 2 o'clock in the English church, Anneville, Pa. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

BRUBACHER, Aden - Passed away, peacefully, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at age 87. Beloved husband of the late Lorraine Brubacher (nee Heipel) formerly of Kitchener; dearly loved father of Bruce and his wife Norene Brubacher of Kitchener; dear brother of Levi and his wife Seleda Brubacher of RR4, Listowel; Orvie Brubacher of Floradale; Ira Martin and his wife Lena of RR 1, Wingham; dear brother-in-law of Raymond Heipel and his wife Dorothy of Waterloo and Ronald Hammer and his wife Carol of Tavistock. He was predeceased by his parents, Simeon and Mary (Martin) Brubacher; his brothers, Ibra, Elam and Ishmael; his sister, Salema and his sisters-in-law, Selina, Lucinda and Salome. Aden was a long time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kitchener. He served with the Canadian Infantry in Europe during the Second World War. He was wounded in action but recovered from his injuries and returned to active service. After the war, Aden worked as a general labourer at the Lang Tanning Company in Kitchener for a number of years and at numerous other companies in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. The family will receive friends at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home , this evening (Thursday) 7-9 p.m. and Friday afternoon 2-4 p.m. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W. Kitchener, Ontario, 519-745-9495, with Rev. Roland Syens officiating. Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery, 335 University Avenue East, Waterloo, Ontario. MARTIN, Richard - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Warren Martin, at his sister Rhoda's home in Mount Forest, on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, one day after his 59th birthday. Beloved son of Alice Martin of Waterloo. Survived by his son, Brad; daughter, Sabrina and her husband Adam and their mother Sandra. Dear brother of Paul and Judy Martin of St. Jacobs, Shirley and Cal Larsen of Coquitlam, Carol Weber of Kitchener, Ella and Laverne Brubacher of St. Jacobs, Ruth and John Brenneman of Waterloo, Rhoda and Klaus Seibert of Mount Forest. Predeceased by his father, Moses Martin (1995) and brother-in-law, Roger Weber (2002). Rich started his career as an auto mechanic at his father's garage in St. Jacobs before joining Home Hardware in 1989. He was a volunteer firefighter in St. Jacobs for 10 years and a huge fan of hockey, especially Junior B where he spent several years as a player scout before winning the Sutherland Cup with the Cambridge Winterhawks in 2000. Rich was inspired by the "Hockeyville" contest and wanted to wish the community of Woolwich the best of luck as they continue their pursuit of the "Hockeyville" title. Everyone will miss his sense of humour and outgoing nature. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home , Elmira on Tuesday, February 24th from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. A Memorial Service to celebrate Rich's life will be held at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church on Wednesday, February 25th at 2: 30 p.m. At Rich's request, cremation will take place. In Rich's memory, donations to M.E.D.A. or to Woolwich Minor Hockey would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.

MARVIN FREY 1949 - 2008 Passed away peacefully, at home, on October 19, 2008, in his 60th year, after a one year pilgrimage with brain cancer. Beloved husband of Ardith (nee Bauman) Frey for 34 years; cherished father of Eric (Genevieve) Frey of Edmonton and Christopher Frey of Kitchener; proud Papa of Adria Frey of Edmonton. Dear brother of David (Cheryl) Frey of St. Jacobs, Seleda (John) Frey of Moorefield, Clare (Margaret) Frey of RR 2, Elmira, Aden (Sheryl) Frey of Millbank, Miriam Frey of Waterloo, Barbara (Roy) Draper of Elmira and Mary (Orval) Martin of RR 2, Wallenstein. Also lovingly remembered by sisters and brothers-in-law, Karen (Tilman) Metzger of St. Clements, Arlene (Jim) Martin of Hawkesville, Margaret (Ron) Martin of Elmira, Murray (Ingrid) Bauman of Waterloo, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Martin and Selina Frey; three siblings in their infancy; parents-in-law, David and Elizabeth Bauman; two nieces and a nephew. Marv's career was dedicated to service through 23 years with Mennonite Central Committee in Jamaica, Swaziland, Somalia, Lesotho and Winnipeg (five years as Executive Director of MCC Canada), two years as Program Director of Canadian Foodgrains Bank in Winnipeg, and as CEO of Ten Thousand Villages in New Hamburg from 2002 - 2008. When diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer, he faced treatment and a curtailed life in the same direct way in which he embraced work challenges, and his abiding faith and peace were inspiring to all he met. Friends and relatives are invited to share their memories of Marv at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, October 23, from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, October 24, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., after which cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at Waterloo North Mennonite Church, 100 Benjamin Rd., Waterloo on Saturday, October 25, 2008, at 2 p.m., followed by a public interment and committal service at Hawkesville Cemetery. Following interment, all are welcome to join the family back at the church for a reception. Condolences for the family and donations to Ten Thousand Villages Canada or to Princess Margaret Hospital, Pencer Brain Tumor Centre may be arranged through the funeral home, www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445. In living memory of Marv, a donation will be made to the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.
