Henry Westfall died before his could say word to his wife who was nearby

While weighing goods to take to the local market, Henry Westfall who resided on the Guelph road near Breslau, died very suddenly this morning at 3:20 o'clock.

Deceased who was in his 65^th year, had arisen early and, assisted by his wife, was weighing sausage in his kitchen when without warning he fell to the floor and expired without speaking a word.

Dr. Ratz of this city was called but life was extinct when he arrived.

He gave the cause of death as heart failure.

An inquest in to the death will not beheld according to a decision of the coroner.

Deceased who was born in West Montrose, had lived in this district for 28 years.

According to his wife, he had never been in better health than that which have had enjoyed this winter and had appeared unusually well this morning.

Deceased was a member of Shantz Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, the former Catherine Heibein, two daughters, Mrs. William (Caroline) Schmidt of Waterloo and Mrs. Eli (Luella) Pitz of Bridgeport.

The funeral will take place on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from his late residence to the Breslau cemetery.

Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, St. Agatha. She resided at RR 3, Waterloo until six years ago, when she moved to Martin's Rest Home at Elmira.

Beloved wife of the late William W. Schmidt, who predeceased her Aug-ust 31, 1983. Dear mother of Floyd of Drumbo, Reta (Mrs. Wilfred Kneisel) of RR 1, Wellesley, Ralph of Bridge-port, Ward of Kitchener, Beatrice of New Hamburg, Glen of Kitchener, Wray of Cashmere, Wash., U.S.A., Cleo of Vulcan, Alta., Nyle of Cambridge, Doreen (Mrs. Walter Jacobi) of Waterloo, Dorothy of Port Elgin and Audrey (Mrs. Lamar Schumm) of RR 1, Tavistock; dearest grandmother of 36 grandchildren and 42 great- grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Predeceased by a son, Harley; a daughter, Ina: two grandchildren, Roy Kneisel and Dianne (Kneisel) Hoffman; her sister, Luella Pitz and her parents, Henry Westfall and Catharine Heibein.

Reta resided at Nith Terrace in New Hamburg for a number of years. She was born 96 years ago in Waterloo Township and was the daughter of the late William W. and Caroline (Westfall) Schmidt. Reta is reunited with her husband Wilfred W. Kneisel who predeceased her on February 11, 2016. Loving mother of Darlene Kelterborn and Thom Hagerty of Guelph, Wayne Kneisel and Karen Heipel of New Hamburg, Delores and Luke Schwartzentruber, Brian and Barbara Kneisel all of R.R. # 1 Wellesley. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Barry (Kim), Kristen (Paul), Jennifer (Matthew), Nathan (Sarah), Joshua (Lillia), Katelyn, Adam (Stephanie), Graham (Kara), Leah, Stephanie (Peter), Ryan (Melody) and by her 13 great-grandchildren. Passed away peacefully in her sleep, at home, at the age of 92 years.

Beatty loved spending time with family, which often included making sure they were well fed. She gave of herself in the most practical ways and her generosity was abundant. She never feared hard work and had more energy than someone half her age, but she also knew the importance of rest and fun. Her hobbies included quilting, rug hooking, reading and doing puzzles and in the summertime she was an avid gardener. She spent countless hours with her daughters and many grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and listening to bluegrass music, some of which she could turn into a destination to fulfill her love of travel (are we there yet?!); these destinations often included casinos and bluegrass events.

Loving Mother of Debbie Miller (Fox), and Sandy Shantz (Dale).

Beloved Grandma to Tammy Frey, Greg Lautenslager, Stacey Boniface, Tricia Burrough, Penny Shantz and predeceased and reunited with Holly Lajoie. Also remembered by nineteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Dear sister of Glen, Wray (Virginia), Nyle (Hazel), Dorothy Jutzi and Audrey Schumm and sister-in-law Louise. Predeceased by parents William Schmidt and Caroline (Westfall) and by siblings Harley (in infancy), Floyd, Reta Kneisel, Ralph, Ward, Ina (in childhood), Cleo and Doreen Jacobi and a number of brothers and sisters-in-law. Also predeceased by her special friend Bob Schmidt.
