    William Massel Passes Away.

    William Massel, well known in furniture circles of New Hamburg and district, died at the Stratford General Hospital on Tuesday. He was removed to the institution from his home in New Hamburg on Monday evening.

    Mr. Massel was a foreman in a furniture factory in Stratford, and was formerly superintendent of the Seyler Furniture Company of New Hamburg, which is now out of business.

    The deceased owned a service station on Byron street which is operated by his son.

    MASSEL, Kenneth Brock - On Sunday, Nov. 25, 1984, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, Kenneth Massel, aged 66, of 30 Byron St., New Hamburg.

    He was a member of St. George's Anglican Church, New Hamburg; a member of the New Hamburg Board of Trade; had been a member of the IOOF, New Hamburg and had served as a Boy Scout executive in New Hamburg. He owned and operated Massel's Fuel in New Hamburg until his retirement.

    Beloved husband of the former Marie Fuhr; dear father of Bill and his wife Carol of New Hamburg, Peggy and her husband John Schucht of London, Ont., Fran and her husband John Godin of New Hamburg and Debbie Massel of Kitchener; loving brother of Bud and his wife Bernice of Long Point. Six grandchildren also survive.

    He was predeceased by his parents, the late William Massel and the former Emma Monk and one brother, Charles Byron.

    Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, after 7 p.m. this evening and until noon Wednesday, Nov. 28, when transfer will be made to St. George's Anglican Church, New Hamburg, for service at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Roy Shepherd officiating. Interment to follow in St. James Anglican cemetery, RR 2, New Hamburg.

    Massel, Bill

    Passed away on Wednesday February 9, 2011 at his residence in New Hamburg. Bill was born 68 years ago in Stratford and was the son of the late Kenneth & Marie (Fuhr) Massel.

    Beloved husband of Carol (Mackechnie) Massel whom he married July 25, 1964. Loving father of Brock & Stayce Massel of Kitchener, Rob & Michelle Massel of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by his granddaughters Carling and Juniper. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Peggy & John Schucht, Fran & John Godin all of London, Deb & Andy Blaszyk of Kitchener, Linda Makohon of Oregon and Allan & Linda Mackechnie of South Carolina. Remembered by his nieces and nephews Scott, Lori & Chris, Christie & Vince, Kerry, Jessie, Candice & Shannon, Libby and Robynn. Bill was predeceased by his brother-in-law Richard Makohon.

    Bill was a member of St. George's Anglican Church, New Hamburg and also a charter and active member of the New Hamburg Lion's Club. Bill owned and operated Massel's Marine with his family for many years and in his semi- retirement he enjoyed golfing and fishing.
    Family and friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg tonight Friday from 7-9 p.m. and again Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. The funeral service will take place on Sunday February 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at St. George's Anglican Church, New Hamburg with Rev. Jesse Dymond officiating. A time of refreshments and fellowship will follow the service at the Morningside Recreation Centre. Cremation to follow with spring interment in St. James Anglican Church Cemetery, of which he was a curator. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George's Anglican Church, Grand River Regional Cancer Centre or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
