    Mrs. Chris. Z. Wagler

    Died - The death occurred at her home in South Easthope on Thursday, March 4th, of Veronica Schwartzentruber, beloved wife of Mr. Chris. Z. Wagler, at the age of 38 years, 7 months and 7 days. The deceased had been ill but one week with appendicitis, which was the cause of her death. The late Mrs. Wagler was a daughter of the late Joseph Schwartzentruber of Baden, and was born in Wilmot township. She was married to Mr. Wagler sixteen years ago and they moved onto their farm in South Easthope, where she had since resided. She leaves to mourn her early departure her sorrowing husband and three daughters, besides 3 brothers and 3 sisters, namely: Joseph, of near New Dundee, John of Kitchener; Peter of Batavia, N.Y.; Mrs. Jacob Oesch, of Hay; Mrs. Noah Schlabach, of Elkton, Mich., and Mrs. John Schwartzentruber of Petersburg. The funeral was held on Sunday forenoon to the 16th line cemetery in East Zorra and was attended a by large number of relatives and friends by whom the departed was greatly beloved and esteemed.

Wagler, which took place on Sunday last to the Mennonite cemetery, was attended by a large concourse of friends and relatives to show their last love and respect to the departed.     She was a member of the St. Agatha Mennonite Church, where she was a member of the WMSC.
    Beloved wife of the late John L. Roth, who predeceased her September 19, 1971; dear mother of Mildred (Mrs. Lawrence Hauder) of Milford, Neb., Martha (Mrs. Jack Miller) of Wooster, Ohio, Arthur of Julesburg, Colo., Beatrice (Mrs. John Holst) of New Dundee, Vernon of Breslau and Clare of Petersburg. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one brother, Clayton Schwartzentruber of Petersburg.
    She was predeceased by her parents, the late John E.R. and Catherine Schwartzentruber and one granddaughter, Connie Lou.
    Friends may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, New Hamburg Chapel, 291 Huron St., after 7 p.m. this evening, until noon on Thursday, Dec. 2, 1982, when transfer will be made to St. Agatha Mennonite Church, for service at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Arthur Roth, Rev. Neston Martin and Rev. Elmer Schwartzentruber officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
    As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Nithview Home or the Western Ontario Mennonite Mission Board.

A member of Calvary United Church. Born in Baden. For many years he was an Employee of Silverwoods Dairies limited. he served overseas with the Canadian Army during the Second World war. Husband of the former Marjorie Maw; father of Bruce, David, Lorn, Paul, Robin, all of Kitchener and Dennis of Windsor; brother of Gordon of Windsor, Mrs. Ida Pfeiffer and Rosetta (Mrs. George Doubleday), both of Kitchener. One grandson also survives. He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. & Mrs John Schwartzentruber and one brother Elmer. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Laura Iutzi; his parents, Joseph K. Schwartzentruber and the former Katherine Wagler; three sons, Ray, Simon Jr., and Glenn, three brothers, one sister and two grand children. The late Mr. Schwartzentruber will be resting at the Omand-Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg. Funeral service will be conducted at the Waterloo Pentecostal Tabernacle today at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Schrier officiating.     Schwartzentruber, Mrs. Lavina - Passed away on Friday, September 5, 1997 at her residence, Nithview Home, New Hamburg. Lavina was born 90 years ago in South Easthope Township and was a daughter of the late Christian Z. Wagler and Veronica Schwartzentruber. She was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church, RR 2 Baden where she had also been a member of the WMSC. Beloved wife of the late Solomon Schwartzentruber, who predeceased her in 1973. Dear mother of Nelson and his wife Irma, Elroy and his wife Alta, all of Waterloo, Harold and his wife Delores of RR 2 Baden and Grace and her husband Raymond Schwartzentruber of Tavistock. She is fondly remembered by 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Wagler of Kitchener, Lauretta and her husband Louis Lichti of RR 1 Shakespeare; a brother Kenneth Wagler of Nile. Also remembered by two brothers-in-law Elmer Schwartzentruber and Lloyd and his wife Pearl Yantzi, all of New Hamburg.     Mildred May Hauder was born on May 8, 1925, in Petersburg, Ontario, Canada to John L. and Matilda (Swartzentruber) Roth and passed away on Good Friday April 15, 2022, in Seward, NE at the age of 96.

    Mildred attended grade school and as a young girl accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized. On September 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Ernest Roth in St Agatha, Ontario, Canada. However, Mildred found herself widowed too soon as she was left to mourn the tragic loss of her husband in a pick-up/train accident 10 months later. Along with raising her daughter, Sharon, Mildred worked in a doctor's home for a period of time and later was a housekeeper and nanny. She was blessed with a second marriage to Lawrence Hauder on June 19, 1965, and moving to the United States and residing in Milford, NE on the farm and later in town.

    Mildred was a member of the East Fairview Mennonite Church, WMSC and volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop in Seward. She enjoyed being with family, sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking, taking trips to Canada and spending winter is Sarasota, FL.

    Survivors include her children and spouses, Sharon and Bill Stauffer, Milford, Carley Roth, Lincoln, Betty and Lowell Hertzler, Harrisonburg, VA, Sue Ann and Roy Perry, Hinton, VA. She was church historian almost 20 years and taught Sunday school and Bible school.Her hobbies were oil painting, embroidering pictures, traveling with her husband, flower arranging and all manner of crafts.She was a homemaker who worked at Wooster High cafeteria for 18 years and St. Mary and Grant Street schools. She loved quantity cooking at church, Camp Luz and Meals Together.     Arthur John Roth was born on December 24, 1930, near Petersburg, Ontario, Canada, to Matilda Swartzendruber Roth and John L. Roth. Growing up on the family farm near the village of Petersburg, he attended grade school until the eighth grade when he was needed to assist with farm work. At the age of eleven, Art recognized his need for a Savior and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior during a church revival. He was baptized in 1941 at the Steinmann Mennonite Church in Baden, Ontario, Canada.

    While residing in Canada, Art worked as a grocery bagger at Loblaws Super Market in Kitchener, Ontario. He later found employment at a local sawmill and a transport company. Actively involved in his church, Art served as a Sunday School teacher, Song Leader, Janitor, and youth leader.

    In the summer of 1953, Art embarked on a life-changing adventure with the Christian Laymen's Tent Evangelism team based in Orrville, Ohio. He traveled extensively across the United States, from Oregon to New York, and throughout Ontario, Canada. Art served as Assistant to the tent Manager during his time with the team.

    Passed away peacefully at his residence, The Village of Winston Park, Kitchener, on Friday, July 28, 2017. Clare was the son of the late John and Matilda Roth (Swartzentruber) and was born on the home farm in Petersburg, Ontario 79 Years ago.

    Clare will always be missed and cherished by his daughters Michelle (Robert) Popma and Alyson (Sam) Wilson, his grandchildren; Joseph, Michael, Katelynn, Daniel, Spencer, Nicholas, Zachari and Matthew. He will be remembered by his brothers and sisters; Arthur (Marjorie) Roth of Colorado, Vernon (Betty) Roth of Breslau and Mildred Hauder of Nebraska.

    Clare is predeceased by his daughter Connie Lou Roth, sisters Martha and husband Jack Miller and Beatrice and husband John Holst as well as by brother in law Laurence Hauder.

    Clare retired as a Manager of Zehrs at the age of 55 and spent much of his time playing golf, a game he grew to love all his life. Clare was an Optimist Club member.

    Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to a time of memorial visiting on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 5 \endash 8 p.m. at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, August 3, 2017 in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. followed by a time of refreshment and fellowship.

    charter member of the New Dundee Snowmobile Club and enjoyed having the clubhouse on his property. He was a member of the New Dundee Board of Trade and the Union Cemetery Board.

    Schwartzentruber.-Glen, son of Simon and Laura (Jutzi) Schwartzentruber, was born at Baden, Ont., April 26, 1931; died July 21, 1947; aged 16 y. 2 m. 25 d. He met his death, along with Ray Snyder and Ernest Timothy Roth, in a railway crossing accident on the farm of Samuel S. Roth, near Baden, Ont. Surviving are his parents, one grandmother (Mrs. Lizzie Steinman, of Baden), one grandfather (Joseph K. Schwartzentruber, Petersburg, Ont.), 6 brothers (Arthur, Nyle, Clare, Elverne, Simon Jr., and Wayne), 6 sisters (Leona, Ellen, Irma, Reta, Ruth Ann, and Arlene), and many other relatives and friends. At the age of eleven he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and united with the Baden Mennonite Church. He was a cheerful, consistent Christian. Funeral services were held at the home on July 24, in charge of Peter Nafziger, followed by joint services at the Geiger Mennonite Church, New Hamburg, Ont., in charge of James Martin, Osiah Horst, and Curtis Cressman. Interment was made in a double grave in the adjoining cemetery.

    ERNEST ROTH, GLEN SCHWARTZENTRUBER, RAYMOND SNYDER

    Kitchener, July 22 - Motoring to Au Gres, Michigan yesterday to attend the funeral of a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Roth, of Baden, were reached as they prepared to cross the border at Sarnia and informed their son, Ernest, 21, had been killed with two friends in a railway crossing crash near their home. Today they arranged for the funeral of their young son. The other victims were Glen Schwartzentruber, 16, and Raymond Snyder, 11. All were Mennonites. The three were killed instantly when struck by a Canadian National Railways train in charge of Edward Milner, Toronto, conductor, and William Flint, Toronto, engineer, on a crossing leading to the Samuel Roth farm. They were returning from a field, where they had been dusting potatoes. Roth, who was married to the former Mildred Roth last September, also is survived by his parents, one brother, Calvin, and two sisters, Agness and Mrs. Rufus Bender, Baden. Schwartzentruber, a son of Mr. And Mrs. Simon Schwartzentruber, is survived by his parents, six brothers, Arthur, Nyle, Clare, Elverne, Simon and Waybe, and six sisters, Leona, Ellen, Erma, Rita, Ruth and Arlene, all at home. Snyder is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Snyder; a brother, Vernus, at hoem, and three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Bechtel, Mrs. Ethel Roth and Ruth Snyder, all of Baden.
