    Died in Galt Hospital

A well-known and highly respected resident of the town, passed away at the hospital, Sunday morning, at 6.30 o'clock, in the person of Mrs. Flaherty, wife of Jos. Flaherty, Maple Street. The deceased, who was a daughter of the late Wm. Crowe, was born in Paisley, Scotland, in the year 1859. When about five years of age she, with three brothers and three sisters, came with her parents to Canada, the family finally settling in Garafraxa Township. At Fergus, in 1878, the deceased lady was married to her surviving husband, and shortly afterwards they took up their residence at Belwood. Some five years later, Mr. and Mrs. Flaherty, removed to Galt, which continued to be the deceased's home, until her death. Since coming to town the deceased lady had made many friends who will learn with unfeigned sorrow of her demise. Three little girls, Ethel, Daisy and Lily, of whom the eldest is 12 years old and an infant son, 18 months of age, survive a loving and affectionate mother. The illness which resulted in this well-known lady's death, was of fourteen weeks duration and was of the most painful and distressing nature. The malady first took the form of inflammatory rheumatism, but some days prior to her demise it developed into sciatica. After suffering untold agony, the sufferer was at last released from pain, as when the disease reached the brain, the grim reaper appeared and claimed the patient for his own. The deceased, some two years ago, was ailing for a number of weeks, with rheumatism, but after recovering from that attack, did not suffer from any any illness, until this last fatal trouble. The father of the deceased has been dead for some years, but the mother still survives and resides with a daughter, in Garafraxa. Three brothers and two sisters, are also living, Mr. John Crowe. Montana, William, Niagara, N.Y., Robert, Highlandville, Mass., Mrs. George Bayne,.Eramosa, and Mrs. Andrew Bayne, East Garafraxa. The late Mrs. Flaherty was an earnest and valued member of the Methodist church.
