Aaron W. Martin, 88, of RR 1, Wallenstein, died Sunday night at his home.

A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Martin, he was born in Wellesley Township June 17 1868. His wife, the former Susannah Martin, predeceased him June 15, 1956.

Surviving are four daughters, Miss Elmeda Martin of Woodstock, Mrs. David (Adina) Martin of RR 1, Waterloo: Mrs. Hans (Minerva) Rechsteiner of Waterloo, Mrs. Onias (Elvina) Martin of RR 1, Wallenstein; Josiah, RR 3, Wallenstein; Sidney, RR 2, Wallenstein; David of near Listowel, Orville of Hawkesville; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Weber and Mrs. Martin Frey; three brothers, David W., Josiah W., and John, all of Wallenstein; 47 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

The body rested at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. when removal was made to the home for service Wednesday at 9 a.m. A memorial service followed at South Peel Mennonite Meeting House. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Aaron Hoffman of near Heidleberg, formerly Lavina Martin, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Martin of near Wallenstein, passed away at the Kitchener-Waterloo hospital on Friday after a short illness. She is survived by her husband, and five children. The funeral took place from her late residence on Monday morning to the Three Bridges Mennonite church. Rev. Israel Weber and Rev. Urias Martin conducted the service. Interment took place in the adjoining cemetery.

OLIVER MARTIN

The death of Oliver Martin, 48, of R.R. 3, Wallenstein, occurred at the K-W Hospital, Tuesday, April 2nd.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron W. Martin, Hawkesville, he was born in Wellesley Township Sept. 16, 1897. His marriage to the former Suzanne Martin, who survives him, took place Jan. 28, 1926. Mr. Martin farmed in the Wallenstein district all his life.

Surviving, besides his parents and wife, are three sons, Leonard, Mahlon and Aaron, and two daughters, Edna and Laura, all at home. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. David (Adina) C. Martin, R.R. 1, Waterloo; Mrs. Onia (Alvina) Martin, Wallenstein, Miss Minerva Martin, Waterloo, and Almida Martin, Hawkesville, and six brothers, Alson, Josiah and David of Wallenstein, Sydney, Yatton and Orvie, Huntsville.

The funeral service was held Friday afternoon at the late residence at 1:30 p.m., followed by a service at the Gospel Hall, Hawkesville. Interment was made in the adjoining cemetery. John M. Martin was the speaker at the service.

MARTIN, Annie Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, June 9, 2019 (one month before her 100th birthday). Annie was born on July 11, 1919 and was the last surviving member of her birth family, predeceased by her parents John W. and Leah (Snyder) Martin, 13 siblings (three who died in infancy) Salinda, Ephraim, Lovina, Elam, Ina, Nelson, Joseph, Amos, Leah, David, John, Simeon, and Allen, her parents-in-law Isaac and Nancy Martin and Susanna Martin, brothers-in-law Jacob (Marjorie) Martin and David (Donna) Martin, and many extended family members. Beloved wife of the late Henry A. Martin who predeceased her on September 11, 1990. Loved mother of Loretta and the late Murray Snider, Doris and Gordon Reier, Pauline and the late Gary Gingrich. Cherished grandma of Ryan and Liza Snider, Kara and Kent Bergstrom, Julia Gingrich and Rebecca Plett, Kristen Gingrich Berg and Bryan Berg. Special great-grandma of Savannah and Nile Snider, Brooke and Luke Bergstrom, Oliver and Miriam Berg. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews who brought great joy to her life. Annie began working for Norris Bakery at the Old Kitchener Market and also St. Mary's High School. When Forest Heights Collegiate opened in 1964, she greatly enjoyed planning and equipping the new cafeteria kitchen and then managing it and cooking for students and staff until 1977 when she retired. Cooking was always a pleasure for her and she prepared many delicious meals for family gatherings, church groups, and summer camp groups. She also expressed her creativity through dressmaking, porcelain dolls, quilting, watercolour art, and china painting. Throughout the years, she wrote many anecdotes and stories of her early years, which were then compiled by her granddaughter Julia Gingrich in a memoir called "Stories from the Farm". Annie was a dedicated and active member of Bethany Evangelical Missionary Church in Kitchener. Her participation and leadership in many areas of church life was a demonstration of her strong faith. Annie's emotional and physical strength, courage and unconditional love for her family lives on in her children and grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A graveside committal service will be held at First Mennonite Cemetery, 800 King St. E., Kitchener on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Following the committal service, Annie's family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until time of the memorial service at 3:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marilyn Rushton officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service in the funeral home's Fireside Room.

She will be remembered for her compassionate and accepting spirit, sense of humour and playfulness, spiritual devotion, and the pleasure she experienced from nature, its bounty. Even in the last difficult months, Viola found strength and joy in meaningful companionship, music and her enduring faith. At Viola's request cremation has taken place. Passed away peacefully, at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Monday, December 11, 2006, at the age of 76 years. Lloyd resided at the Village of Winston Park and was a truck driver for his entire working career. He drove for such companies as Kingsway, Reliable, and most recently Challenger. Lloyd enjoyed trucking all over North America and will be remembered for his great sense of humour. Lloyd was predeceased by his beloved wife Theresa of 37 years. He is survived by his step-son Pat Murphy, granddaughters Heidi and Beverly Murphy, and his cherished friend Elaine Townsend. As a stay at home mom, Florence was involved with babysitting, neighbourhood Bible studies and church activities. She then worked for the Waterloo Region District School Board for over 20 years, most recently as a custodian at John Mahood Public School, Elmira District Secondary School and Floradale Public School. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. Many happy times were had during the 38 seasons spent at the trailer at Chesley Lake Camp. Through the years, Florence was very involved with both Bible school and Sunday school. She was a charter member of Zion Mennonite Fellowship. Florence always took time to listen and understand those around her and put others ahead of herself. The family will receive friends and relatives at Floradale Mennonite Church on Wednesday, August 13 from 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at Floradale Mennonite Church on Thursday, August 14 at 2 p.m. with Pastors Ken Driedger and Fred Redekop officiating. Proud father of Anna (Emily) and David (Sara), and beloved brother of Graham (Doris). He is predeceased by his dear wife of 34 years, Erma Hoffman, his brother Charles, and his parents, David and Daisy. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his deep faith, kind heart, and enthusiastic (if somewhat off-key) singing. As a scholar and theologian, Brice loved books. He authored two and collected thousands of others. After being ordained as a minister in the Presbyterian Church in Canada, Brice pastored congregations in the Orillia and Arthur areas. MARTIN, Claude L. Surrounded by family, at Lisaard House on Sunday, July 15, 2012, in his 67th year. Claude was the proud founder of Martin Excavating. Much loved husband of Lynne (nee Bulmer). Loving father of Jerry and Lori and Jason and Jennifer. Grandpa of Hayden, Nicolas, Ella and Samantha. Claude is also sadly missed by sisters and brothers Glennis and Maurice Koenig of Wellesley, Barbara Martin of Ethel, Jim Martin and Helen of Linwood, Joyce and Cliff Freeman of Elmira, Doreen and Ken Martin of St. Jacobs and Arlene Martin of Hawkesville. Son-in-law of June Gildner (nee Bulmer) and brother-in-law of Jill and Ron Martin of Elmira, father-in-law Arthur Bulmer and stepfather-in-law Roy Gildner. He will also be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. The "Old Boy" will be proudly remembered by his "sons" Ken and Luke. Predeceased by his son Bryan Martin, his parents Orville and Almeda (nee Eby) Martin and his brother Lyle Martin. Emerson was the loving husband of Elizabeth (Frey) and will be missed by his children Owen (Donna) Weber of Gorrie; Nelson (Viola) Weber of Atwood; Noah (Pauline) Weber of Elmira; Miriam Weber of Gorrie; and Mary (Jack) Gault of Shelburne. Also loved by his sisters Adina Bauman and Leavea (Jake) Wiens, his 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Onias and Mary Weber, his brothers Onias (Magdalena) and Elam Weber, his sister Sarah (George) Reid, his brothers-in-law Addison Bauman and Grant Schnurr and a brother and sister in infancy.
