Otterbein, Barbara Ann (Derbecker) - August 25, 1933 - August 6, 2009. It was in peace that Barbara passed, in the comfort and familiarity of her own home. Barbara's unquestionable faith and mighty determination carried her through this always-uncertain journey with cancer. A longtime resident of New Hamburg, Barb was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Barb enjoyed all aspects of God's creation. She loved the land, wildlife, gardening, flowers, and cottage life at Macey Bay, Honey Harbour. Barb was an award-winning photographer, an avid reader, a compassionate and gentle woman who saw beauty in the simplicity of life. She is sorely missed and dearly loved. Beloved wife of Stan Otterbein, with whom she celebrated 55 years of marriage on June 23, 2009. Loving mother of Brad and Claire Otterbein, Karen and Rick Haffner, all of New Hamburg, and Doug and Elaine Otterbein of Enniskillen. Sadly missed by grandchildren, Mike and Lori, Nathan, Meghann and friend Kyle, Adam, Devon and Misty, Lucas, Sophia, Brett, Eden and Georden, and great-grandson, Trent. Dear sister of Linda Potter (Fred) and sister-in-law of Earl (Charlotte) Otterbein, Arthur Otterbein, Edward (Carol) Otterbein, Helen Raymond, Louise Riepert, Lorraine Bolduc and Marie Herter. Barb was predeceased by her parents, Wilson and Olive (Wettlaufer) Derbecker; great-granddaughter, Willow Otterbein; and by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Ann Otterbein, Garfield Raymond, Eldon Riepert, Lincoln Bolduc and Bill Herter. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, New Hamburg on Monday. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Andre Lavergne officiating. Burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg
