    William Plomske

    A former ballplayer with the Kitchener Tigers, William A. Plomske, 74, of 197 Waterloo St... died Sunday in K-W Hospital after a lengthy illness. He played with the Tigers in the semi-professional Trolley League shortly after the turn of the century.

    Born August 19, 1885, in Kitchener, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Plomske. He was a former employee of the Kitchener Button Industries Ltd. A member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, he was also active in the K-W Poultry Association.

    Survivors include his wife, the former Emma Koppitch, whom he married July 3, 1907, in Kitchener; four sons, Milton and William of Kitchener, Irvin and Arthur of Waterloo; three daughters, Mrs. John (Irene) Hollinger, Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Boehmer and Mrs. Richard (Delphine) Brown of Kitchener; one brother. Otto of Kitchener, and 21 grandchildren. One sister and one brother predeceased him.
    The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where the funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. A. W. Lotz will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

A faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, serving as usher for many years. A retired life underwriter for Imperial Life Assurance Company serving for more than 34 years. Irvin was very active in sports in the Twin Cities playing and coaching for the K-W Panthers and Waterloo Tigers. Also umpired for several years and enjoyed coaching in the softball league. An active member of the Serra Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9276, past president of the Holy Name Society of Our Lady of Lourdes and the Waterloo Council 5135 Senior Knights of Columbus. Son of the late William Plomske and the former Emma Koppich. Beloved husband of Rose Plomske (nee Kraemer) and would have celebrated 53 years of marriage in July of this year. Loving father of Terrence (Terry) and his wife Margaret of Calgary, Maurice and his wife Veronica of Dartmouth, N.S., Mary Ellen Forwell and her husband Tim of Waterloo, Donna Grebenc and her husband Frank of Burlington, Cheryl Greenberg and her husband David of Halifax and Maureen Scharman and her husband Peter of Kitchener.     PLOMSKE, William Henry John - Passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Saturday, January 24, 2004, at St. Mary's General Hospital, at the age of 90 years. Beloved husband of Nel (Angela) (nee Ballak) celebrating 61 years of marriage. Survived by his nieces and nephews, Brian Boehmer (Linda), David Hollinger (Patty), Janet Ayres (Richard) and many other wonderful nieces and nephews. Dear brother to Dorothy Boehmer (late Carl), Delphine Brown (Dick) and Arthur Plomske (Lenore). Predeceased by his parents, William August Plomske and Emma Augusta Plomske; his brothers, Milton Plomske (Elinore), Irvin Plomske (Rose); sister, Irene Hollinger (John) and brother-in-law, Peter Ballak (June). Godfather of Nancy Nel Shaver (Steven) and Debby Wilkins (Phil). Bill was employed with Kaufman's for over 50 years. He was in the Infantry in the Kent Regiment. His theatre of service was in B.C. and Kiska where he served for 3-1/2 years. In our community, Bill was a well-known sportsman participating in golf, baseball and hockey. He was the first club champion and charter member of Rockway Golf Club. He played shortstop for the Waterloo Tigers the first year they won the pennant, and played shortstop with the Kitchener Panthers. He also loved hockey and played for the Industrial League of Kaufman Footwear. Bill's family will receive friends at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 621 King Street West, Kitchener, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at Calvary United Church, 91 Gruhn Street, Kitchener 11 a.m. Interment Memory Gardens to follow.

    ART PLOMSKE 1918-2004

    Passed away peacefully at the Parkwood Mennonite Home, on Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at the age of 86 years.

    Art is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Lenore (nee: Boettger), one son; Grant and his wife Cathy Plomske, one daughter; Sue and her husband Steve Beaupre, grandchildren; Adam, John, and Heidi Plomske and Shelley (Chad Stumpf) and Jeff Beaupre. Art is also survived by his sisters; Dorothy Boehmer and Delphine (Dick) Brown, and sisters-in-law; Rose, Elinore, and Nell Plomske as well as many nieces and nephews.

    Art was predeceased by his brothers; Irvin, Milt, and Bill Plomske, a sister Irene (John) Hollinger, and a brother in-law Carl Boehmer.

    Art was an original caddie at the Westmount Golf and Country Club and a Charter Member of Rockway Golf Club. He worked for many years at Walper Tobacco Shop and owned and operated Art's Recreation Centre in Waterloo for 18 years. Art worked at Westburne Electric until his retire ment. Art was an avid golfer and after retirement he played at the Beaverdale Golf Club. He was head usher at Bridgeport United Church for 25 years. Many fond memories of family fishing trips to Boat Lake will be cherished by his family. Art was a very avid gardener and he and Lenore were active with the Waterloo Horticultural So ciety for several years. He was a kind and loving husband, father, grand father, and friend who loved to entertain.

    Friends are invited to share their memories of Arthur with his family during visitation at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo tonight (Thursday, November 18, 2004) from 7-9 pm. A celebration of Art's life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, November 19 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at Bridgeport Memorial Cem etery. A time of fellowship with the family will follow the interment in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home.

    Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Sunday January 15, 2017 after a brief illness. Loving mother of Brian (Linda) Boehmer, Nancy (Steven) Shaver and mother-in-law of Richard Ayres. Cherished Grandma of Allison, Shelley (Craig), Kristopher (Jen), Kristen (Quinton), Amy (John), Tyler (Trisha) and Heidi (Stefan). Beloved by her fourteen great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Carl (1990), daughter Janet Ayres (2012), parents William and Emma Plomske, siblings Irvin (Rose) Plomske, Milton (Elinore) Plomske, Bill (Nel) Plomske, Arthur (Lenore) Plomske, Irene (John) Hollinger, and brothers-in-law Dick Brown and George Boehmer. Survived by sister Delphine Brown and sister-in-law Lillian Boehmer. Formerly residing on Shuh Avenue in Kitchener, Dorothy resided at Parkwood Retirement Home in Waterloo. She will be sadly missed by many of the residents and staff at this wonderful facility.

    Obituary of Delphine Martha Brown (nee Plomske)

    Heaven just gained an angel. Delphine passed away peacefully at Trinity Care Village, Kitchener, on Saturday May 1, 2021 with her children able to tell her how much they loved her and that she can now be reunited with her husband Dick, her son Bruce, her great grandson Kieran, her son-in-law David, her mother and dad, all her siblings and many friends. We smile knowing she is being greeted by so many people she loved.

    Born and raised in Kitchener, Ontario to William and Emma (Koppitsch) Plomske and little sister to Irvin (Rose), Milton (Eleanor), Bill (Nel), Irene (John), Dorothy (Carl) and Arthur (Lenore). A loving childhood set the course for Delphine's love of family.
    Delphine was married to Dick Brown in 1952 and together they built a remarkable family. Loving mother of Bruce (Gail), Brenda (David), Ken (Doris), Bob (Carey) and Marg (Gord). Cherished Grandma of Jared, Kelly (Tyler), Bradley (Vincci), Jaime (Josh), Mike (Sue), Chris (Lindsay), Julie (Mat), Chelsea (Nate), Lindsea and Kevin (Heather). Beloved by her 13 great grandchildren. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren.

    Delphine had a wonderful sense of humour. She enjoyed reading the newspaper, which she did every day and watching the Toronto Blue Jays. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and enjoying a great game of cards. Regardless of her opponent's age she was in it to win. She will be sadly missed by the many residents and wonderful staff at Trinity Care Village. Her legacy will be forever cherished.

    AYRES, Janet Lillian (Nee Boehmer) - Radiant and brave at the age of 63, Janet slipped away peacefully at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital early on Tuesday, April 24th after fighting Lymphoma with grace for over a year. Janet leaves behind her devoted husband of 43 years, Richard; her cherished daughters, Shelley (Craig), Kristen (Quinton), and beloved grandchildren Mabel, Mia, Griffin and Kali. Janet is also survived by her mother, Dorothy Boehmer and mother-in-law Lucy Ayres, and will be sadly missed by her brother Brian Boehmer (Linda) of Waterloo, and sister Nancy Shaver (Steven) of Ottawa. Aunt JJ was also very special to many nieces and nephews and had many cousins whom she adored seeing at Plomske gatherings. She is predeceased by her father Carl, father-in-law David and brother-in-law Brian. Janet was an incredibly bright star, shining on all she touched. A long standing member of Beta Sigma Phi. A strong athlete who loved tennis, running and yoga. A wonderful friend to her 'Euchre Girls' who were like sisters to her for over 35 years. Grandma JJ as she was affectionately known, was playful, involved and completely active in the lives of her grandchildren, attending school concerts and cheering at hockey games until her final days. Family meant the world to Janet. She created lasting memories through holidays and traditions and held on to celebrate Easter one last time, sharing her special gifts as a cook and host. The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care of Dr. John Simpson in Uxbridge and Dr. Rena Buckstein at Sunnybrook Hospital; along with the caring nurses at Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. Friends will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Friday, April 27th, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Beta Sigma Phi memorial at 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, April 28th, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
