    Death of Walter Leithead

    A resident of 50 years standing, in the person of Walter Leithead, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 5, at 5 a.m., after an illness of about four years. He was born in New York State, of Scotch parentage, and came to Ontario in his boyhood, settling at Kincardine, where, after growing up, he engaged in farming. At the age of 20 he moved to Ayr and continued to reside here until his death. He was three times married, his surviving widow's maiden name being Annie Lynch. One son by an earlier marriage (William Leithead of North Dumfries) also survives. Besides these he is survived by four brothers - David, James, Thomas and John of Kincardine district - and three sisters: Mrs. Sanders, Detroit; Mrs. Plette, Chicago, and Mrs. Reed, Sault Ste. Marie.

    Deceased was well and favorably known throughout the community, possessing a big, sympathetic heart and a robust constitution, his last illness being the result of a stroke.

    The funeral took place from his late residence, Gibson street, on Saturday, to the Paris cemetery.

    Two brothers and a sister, Thomas and John and Mrs. Sanders, attended the obsequies.

    Died At his home in Ayr, on Sunday, May 11, 1952 William Leithead In his 77th year. The Funeral Will be held from his late residence, Stanley Street, on Tuesday, May 13, at 3.00 p.m. Interment in Ayr Cemetery. Friends and acquaintances will please accept this intimation.

    William Leithead Passes - Death came suddenly to William Leithead at his home on Sunday morning, shortly after he had suffered a heart attack while attending church service. The late Mr. Leithead, who was in his 77th year, had been an elder in the Ayr Presbyterian congregation since its organization over 20 years ago. He was born in Greenfield, a son of the late Walter Leithead and Helen Fulton, and had lived in this district all of his life. He farmed for 40 years on the Ayr-Wrigley's road on the property now owned by Arthur Holderness, before retiring to this village six years ago. He is survived by his wife, the former Violet Gress.

    The Funeral

    The funeral was held from his late residence, Stanley street, on Tuesday afternoon, attended by a wide circle of friends and neighbors. The service was conducted by Rev. J. D. Farris of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Galt, interment being made in Ayr Cemetery. The pallbearers were William G. Hall, James D. Patterson; Carl E. Weitzel, Lyon Findlater, James Cruickshank and Thomas Robson.
