MRS. ELIZABETH MILLER

Elizabeth Miller, 64, Elmira, wife of John A. Miller, died at the Elmira Private Hospital last Wednesday after a lingering illness. Mrs. Miller was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stumpf and was born in Woolwich Township Dec. 8, 1883.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband; four sons, Victor and Elmer of Elora and Theodore and Garfield of Kitchener; two daughters, Mrs. George (Edna) Piercey, Fergus, and Mrs. Daniel (Marie) Bowman, Elmira; three brothers, Caspar Stumpf, Elmira; Conrad, Kitchener, and Henry, Meaford, and six sisters, Mrs. Sophie Schedewitz and Mrs. Amandas Herz, Waterloo; Mrs. Katherine Delion, Mrs. Arthur Aljoe and Mrs. Arthur Beilstein, Kitchener, and Mrs. John Hilgartner, Preston. One brother, Otto, predeceased her.

The funeral was held at the Dreisinger Funeral Chapel Saturday at 2 o'clock with Rev. F. Malinsky officiating. 'Interment was in Union Cemetery.

Elizabeth married John Andrew Miller 25 Jan 1911, Kitchener, Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada. John (son of John W. Miller and Lydia "Liddy" Schwindt) was born 11 Nov 1884, Woolwich Twp., Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada; died 23 Feb 1969, Kitchener, Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada; was buried , Elmira Union Cemetery, Elmira, Waterloo Region, Ontario, Canada. MILLER, Garfield R. (Gary) Passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the Elgin Abbey Nursing Home, Chesley at the age of 93 years. Gary Miller is lovingly remembered by his wife Tilly Hillier of Chesley; son Lyle Miller of Port Bickerton, NS; and daughter Debbie Miller of Toronto. Also remembered by Tilly's family, Joyce and Ray Gross and their children Janet, Alan, and Tim; Doreen Hillier and her children Kevin and Clark; Dave and Vicky Hillier and their children Chad and Casey. Victor was an illegitimate son of Elizabeth Stumpf and used the name of Victor Albert Stumpf. He had a delayed statement of birth dated April 19, 1971 stating that he was born Sept 24 1906 in Guelph to Elizabeth Stumpf. He was listed as 'adopted' son on the 1911 census to Charles and Elizabeth Kuhl.

Obituary - Funeral service was held last Monday for Edna Miller. She died April 17, 1992, at Groves hospital. She was 80. The reverend Mark Waugh officiated at the funeral service. She was the wife of George Piercey; mother of Joyce (Mrs. Percy Watt), of Fergus, and Marlene (Mrs. Al Macklam), of New Hamburg; sister of Victor, Elmer, Marie Bowman, Garry, and Ted; also survived by six grandchildren: Sandra, Barry, Glenna, Michael, Paul, and Beverlee, and 15 great-grandchildren; predeceased by a son, George Piercey, and one grandson, Brian. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Barry Watt, Steve Morrison, Nathan Rudyk, Garry Lachance, Paul Macklam, and Mike Macklam. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Elora United church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Mrs. Piercey was an active member for many years of the Cumnoch and Elora women's institutes, Elora United church women, and Elora United church. She sang with the New Horizons and enjoyed quilting. She had made a home for many young people, and enjoyed others and often entertained family, friends and neighbours. She was a lover of nature and enjoyed quiet moments gardening and caring for flowers. She loved travelling and enjoyed camping. As well, she enjoyed working with the elderly at Wellington Terrace, giving countless hours as a volunteer, and late working on a full-time basis.

Elmer John Miller of Fordwich, passed away peacefully at Palmerston & District Hospital on Monday, July 30th, 2007. Born in Elmira on October 31st, 1912, Elmer was in his 95th year.

Beloved husband of the late Ethel (Aitchison) Miller. Dear father of Andy Miller and his wife Shirleyanne of Listowel, Elaine D'Arcey and her husband Barry of Fordwich, Bill Miller and his wife Linda of Fordwich, Sherrin Woods of Listowel, Karen Miller of Palmerston, Eileen Sulivan and her husband Bill of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Lori Bentley and her husband Dean of Cranbrook. Also loved by his son-in-law Reg Wright of Oakville, brother Gary Miller of Chesley, his 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his daughter Ann (2003), son Grant (1982), sisters Marie Bowman and Edna Piercey, brother Ted and step brother Vic.

Cremation has taken place. A Private Family Service Celebrating the life of Elmer will be held Thursday, August 2nd at the Gorrie Visitation Centre of the Schimanski Family Funeral Home. Interment of cremated remains in Fordwich Cemetery.

Sister of Elmer Miller and Gary (Tillie) Miller. Predeceased by her parents, John and Elizabeth (Stumpf) Miller; one sister, Edna Piercey and two brothers, Vic Stumpf and Ted Miller. Marie was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, an enthusiastic quilter and prolific knitter, baker of perfect pies. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. At noon on Thursday, transfer will be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Elmira for funeral service at 1: 30 p.m. with Rev. Richard A. Frey officiating followed by interment in Elmira Union Cemetery. In her memory, donations to Lutheran Braille Workers would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
