    Schmitt.-Elmina Cressman was born in Blenheim Twp., Oxford Co., Ont., Jan. 31, 1876; died Nov. 4, 1941; aged 65 y. 9 m. 4 d. She was married to Emanuel Schmitt on Mar.20, 1901. This union was blessed with 4 children. One died in infancy. She leaves to mourn a deeply bereaved husband, 1 daughter (Mrs. Herbert Wismer of Baden), 2 sons (Daniel and Jacob of Kitchener),2 grandchildren, 2 sisters (Mrs. Jacob Axt of Petersburg and Mrs. Ervin Gimbel of Breslau), 2 brothers (Alvin of Ceylon, Sask., and Joseph of Kitchener), and a host of other relatives and friends. She accepted Christ as her Saviour on Mar. 14, 1897, and has been a faithful and active member at Shantz Church for forty years. She served eighteen years as secretary of the Ladies' Aid. For the last number of years her health had been failing and, amid trials and suffering, God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to take her to her eternal rest. She will be greatly missed in the home, church, and community, - above all, in the home. She was a real" mother in Israel," always ready to help wherever she could. Funeral services were conducted at the home by Bro. Orphen Wismer, and at the Shantz Mennonite Church by Bros. Moses Rothand L. H. Witmer. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. L.H.W.

    "Word has been received ofthe death Thursday of Alvin Cressman, 79, of Ceylon, Sask. Death was due to a heart attack.

    Mr. Cressman was born at Chesterfield, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs.D.E. Cressman.

    He is survived by his wife, the former Nora Mottram, four daughters and three sons. One son predeceased him. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs.Jacob Axt of Petersburg and Mrs. Irvin Gimbel of Breslau. Two sisters and one brother predeceased him."

    "Joseph Cressman, 70 Simeon St., died suddenly at his home this morning following a heart attack. Mr.Cressman was well known to the commercial trade over Ontario as are presentative of the Dominion Shirt Co. of this city.

    Born at Chesterfield, Ont., Feb. 20, 1880, s/o the late Mr. and Mrs.Daniel Cressman, he went west as a young man engaging in farming at Crossfield, Alta. He came to Kitchener in 1917 and conducted a grocery business at the corner of Weber and Cedar streets for ten years before joining the Dominion Shirt Co. staff.

    His wife, the former Melinda Weber, predeceased him in 1936.

    Mr. Cressman was a member of Stirling Ave. Mennonite Church. He is survived by two sons, Joseph, Waterloo, and Wellington, Kitchener; three daughters, Orpah Cressman, city; Mrs. Wilfred (Ruby) McLeod, Hawkestone,Ont., and Leona Cressman, city; One brother, Alvin, Ceylon, Sask., and two sisters, Mrs. Jacob Axt, city, and Mrs. Irvin Gimble, Breslau, and two grandchildren also survive him..."

    Mrs. Herbert Wismer

    Mrs. Herbert Wismer of 424 Grandview Ave., New Hamburg, died on Saturday at St. Mary s Hospital, Kitchener, at the age of 64.

    Mrs. Wismer, the former Vera Schmitt, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel Schmitt had resided in New Hamburg for eight years. She was a member of Shantz Mennonite Church.

    She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert in 1964 and by a brother.

    She is survived by a brother, Daniel of Kitchener.

    Funeral services were held Monday at Shantz Mennonite Church, Rev. Leslie Witmer officiating.

    Interment was in the church cemetery.

    The Bruce J. Omand Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    AXT, Russell Arnold - Peacefully, on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Parkwood Mennonite Home, Waterloo, Russell Axt, formerly of RR 2, Petersburg. He was born in Guernsey, Sask., 90 years ago, a son of the late Jacob and Livia (Cressman) Axt. Russell was a member of Grace Mennonite Fellowship, 2111 Bean Rd., RR 1, New Hamburg. Russell had farmed in Wilmot township for many years. He was an honorary life member of Ray of Hope Inc. and had volunteered with the Mennonite Disaster Service. Dear brother of Irene Cathcart, Luella Axt and Lillian Bowman, all of Cambridge and Alice Gingrich of Kitchener. Also missed by nieces, Cheryl Lowe, Janet Eade, Marilyn Hovinga and Laurel Reibling and a number of grandnieces and grand-nephews. Russell was predeceased by a brother, Andrew; brothers-in-law, Stanley Bowman, David Cathcart and Henry Gingrich. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, tonight (Friday) from 7-9 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002 transfer will be made to Shantz Mennonite Church for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Earl Koch and Pastor Howard Bean officiating. Burial in Shantz Mennonite Cemetery, RR 2, Baden. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Christian Aid Ministries or Parkwood Mennonite Home.
