    Jarman, William Thomas Private. Enlisted with the 111th Battalion of South Waterloo December 3, 1915 and after serving in France for nearly a year, he was killed in action at the age of nineteen on August 8, 1918. He was the son of Mr. Edwin A. Jarman, Hespeler, Ontario. He was born in England.1a

    English-born William Jarman left his Hespeler home to enlist in 1915. He had a job in a textile factory and wrote a will leaving all to his mother Annie.

    Jarman was part of a crew firing a Lewis machine gun. It was a fearsome, gas-operated weapon that could fire up to 600 rounds a minute. A bullet from an enemy machine gun killed him at Amiens. He was 21.
