The death occurred at Stratford on Monday of Lorenz Christoph Friedrich Roegele, father of Mrs. Annie Leis, of this town, in his 85th year. Death followed a short illness with influenza.

The deceased was for the greater part of his life a resident of North Easthope where he was well known and highly esteemed. He was a valued member of Zion Lutheran Church at Gadshill.

His wife, Helena Gingerich, passed away about four years ago, but the following family survive: Henry, Stratford; Jacob, Saskatoon, Sask.; and George, of Stratford; and eight daughters, Mrs. A. Dunlop, Montreal; Mrs. W. Davis, Toronto; Mrs. Ed. Vince?, London; Mrs. A. Leis, New Hamburg; Mrs. G. fink, Stratford; Mrs. W. Wein, Dashwood; Mrs. J. Fisher, Amulree, and Mrs. Clarence Pepper, Stratford. There are also surviving 30 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday in Zion Lutheran Church thence to Avondale Chaper until Spring when interment will be made in the Gadshill Cemetery.

Mrs. Catherine Mary Fink

Mrs. Catherine Mary Fink, 86 sister of Mrs. Solomon (Annie) Leis of New Hamburg, died Saturday, June 21, in Avon Crest Hospital.

She was born in North Easthope Township, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Raegele. She lived in Stratford most of her life. She was a member of Centennial United Church and the Golden Age Club. Her husband, George William Fink, died in 1944

Surviving is one son, Herbert William Fink, 47 Douro St., one brother, George Roegele, 272 Railway Ave, three sisters, Mrs Solomon (Annie) Leis, New Hamburg; Mrs. Clarence (Florence) Pepper, 162 West Gore St.; Mrs. William (Barbara) Wein, Vancouver; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held at the Heinbuck Funeral Home, Stratford, last Tuesday, with burial taking place in Avondale cemetery.

GREULICH, Wilfred J. (Tony) Passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Freeport Health Centre, Grand River Hospital, Kitchener. Tony resided in New Hamburg and was born there 90 years ago. He was the son of the late Anthony and Adeline (Leis) Greulich. Beloved husband of the late Audrey (Petersen) Greulich who predeceased him in 1995. Tony was grateful for his years with Muriel. Dear brother of Ethel (predeceased) and Jim McArdle (predeceased) and their children Rick, Chris and Jamie, Helen (predeceased) and Curry Wood and their children David, Susan and Linda. Also missed by close friends Murray and Helen Hoerle and Vi and Len Crouse. Tony was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hamburg. He worked for his father who owned the blacksmith shop on Main Street in New Hamburg and later worked in furniture manufacturing until his retirement. Tony loved hunting, fishing and valued his sportsmen buddies. Family and friends may call at the MARK JUTZI FUNERAL HOME, 291 Huron Street on Monday, October 3, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. where Pastor Andre Lavergne will officiate. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery, New Hamburg.
