Mrs. David Ziegler passed away at her home at 31 Factory street on Monday, May 17, after a severe and lingering illness which extended over a period of 19 months. She was born in September 1866. a mile and a half from Elmira, being the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Randall. Her whole life practically was spent in this community, she having lived this 44 years at her home on Factory street.

She is survived by her husband, and out of a family of ten children, eight are living. They are: Addison of Kitchener; Florence (Mrs. Koser) of Winnipeg; Andrew of El mira; Clara (Mrs. Evers) of Guelph Minnie (Mrs. Witter) of Kitchener; Thelma (Mrs. Halliday) at home; Verna (Mrs. Sutton) of Kitchener and Ruth of Toronto. She also leaves her aged father, John Randall, of Elmira; two sisters, Mrs. Willian Wilken of Elmwood, Neb.. and Mrs. Henry Kraft of Elmira; and one brother Jacob Randall of Preston, besides six grandchildren. The funeral was held from her late residence on Thursday, at two o clock to St. Paul's Lutheran church and thence to St. James's cemetery for interment.

Andrew R. Ziegler, 78, of Elmira died suddenly Monday at K-W Hospital.

Born in Elmira, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Ziegler,

He lived in Elmira all his life and was a member of Gale Presbyterian Church. He was an elder for many years and Sunday school superintendent for 30 years.

Surviving are his wife, the former Minnie Denman; one son, Robert of Elmira; two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Bernice) Holtze of Toronto and Mrs. J. F. (Thelma) Schmitz of Oshawa; five sisters, Mrs. Florence Kozer of Winnipeg, Mrs. Otto Wille of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Walter Sutton and Mrs. Clayton Witter of Kitchener and Mrs. Clayton Everes of Guelph and three grandchildren.

Two brothers and one sister predeceased him.

The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, where the service was held Wednesday at 3 p.m. Rev. Walter McCleary officiated. Burial was in Elmira cemetery.

At St. Mary's Hospital, on Sunday, Dec. 7, 1975, after a brief illness, the former Verina Margareta Ziegler, aged 76 years, of 103 Gatewood Rd., Kitchener. A lifelong resident of the area; a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, the Friendship Circle of the church and the Jolly Oldsters. Mother of Mrs. Audrey Dahmer of Kitchener; sister of Mrs. Minnie Witter of Kitchener, Mrs. Thelma Wille of St. Pauls, Mrs. Clara Evers of Fergus; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Ruth Barbara Ziegler, of Toronto, daughter of Mr. David Ziegler, Elmira, tragically came to her death on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, as the result of being struck by a motor car the previous night. Returning home on foot from a Toronto dance hall, Miss Ziegler who lived at 41 Indian Road, was struck and fatally injured, and her escorts Dudley and Cebert Binet, brothers, of the same address, were both injured by a motor car driven by Chas. Chousky. The girl's skull was fractured. She was picked up, bleeding and unconscious, and taken in a passing motor car to St. Joseph's Hospital, where she died of cerebral hemorrhage [sic]. Durley [sic] Binet suffered shoulder injuries. He was also taken to hospital. His brother escaped with a shaking up. Charles Chousky, of 188 Markham street, was arrested Monday morning by Constable Westover on a charge of criminal negligence.

Tells Story of Crash

Dudley will recover from the accident. His brother said: "Dudley, Ruth and I left the dance hall about 11: 45 p.m. and were proceeding south to get a street car home. I was walking well over to the west side of the road. Ruth was in the centre, and Dudley on the outside. We were all linked arm in arm. When about 200 feet from the dance hall, without any warning at all, a Chevrolet touring car came from behind and struck Dudley and Ruth, while I was left standing on my feet. "Dudley was thrown about ten feet, while Ruth was knocked into the embankment on the side of the road. The car proceeded about 30 feet and stopped. Dudley's clothes were torn off. "I rushed towards the girl, who was nearest to me, picked her up and placed her head on my knees. She was bleeding badly about the head, and all she said was, 'What's the matter?'

Six in Death Car

"There were six passengers in the Chevrolet car, two of whom came back and picked up Dudley, who was unconscious, and two assisted me with Ruth. They were placed in the car and rushed to the hospital. "The driver of the car seemed to be pretty well shaken up, and said that he did not see us on account of the glaring headlights on a taxi which was going north. One of the other passengers drove the car to the hospital, and the driver, along with two of his passengers, followed in the taxi to the hospital." As the unfortunate girl had only been living two weeks at Indian Road, the Binet family were uncertain of her father's address, and word of the accident did not reach Elmira until Sunday morning. Because of this delay the father, David Ziegler, brother, Andrew Ziegler, and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Witter reached the hospital too late to see her alive.

Born in Elmira

The late Miss Ziegler was born in Elmira and attended the public and high schools here. She then graduated from the Canada Business College, Kitchener, and for the past five years has been employed in the office of Dr. Beaumont, a lawyer, in Toronto. She is survived by her father (her mother having passed away only a year ago), two brothers, Addison of Kitchener, and Andrew, of Elmira, and five sisters, Florence (Mrs. L.W. Koser), Winnipeg; Clara (Mrs. George Evers), Guelph; Minnie (Mrs. Clayton Witter), Kitchener; Thelma (Mrs. Charles Halliday), Winnipeg, and Verna (Mrs. Walter Sutton), Kitchener. The funeral service, which was held on Wednesday afternoon from the home of Mr. Andrew Ziegler, to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, was largely attended.
