    John Nelson Kanmacher, 93 Piper Street, Ayr, a resident of this village for over 50 years, passed away in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on Monday, October 27th. He was in his 79th year. Born in Waterloo County, he was a son of the late John Kanmacher and Nellie Brandon. A machinist by trade, he retired several years ago. Mr. Kanmacher was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, New Dundee; member and past master of Ayr Masonic Lodge No. 172. Surviving are his wife, Klara Kovacs; a daughter, Mrs. Rose Baas of Sarnia; a son Brian of Troy; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife Gwin Carter, one brother and three sisters. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at St. James' Lutheran Church, New Dundee, on Saturday at 2: 30 p.m. Arrangements by Coutts and Son Funeral Home, Galt.

She is predeceased by her parents Joe and Ella Hagey and her husband James Beirnes, sister Marion Winwood and brothers Ross Hagey and Frank Hagey. Lovingly remembered by her children Janis and Ron Schut of Huntsville, Cheryl Sheppard of Kitchener, Tim and Wendy Beirnes of Cambridge and Cindy and John Iverson of Sundre, Alberta. Her Grandchildren, Karen Scully (Ken), Scott (Chris) Moyer, Jason (Karen) Sheppard, Jeff Sheppard, Jodie (Jeff) Meyer, Kerri Beirnes (Mike Caskanette), Kristin (Chris) Donnelly, Kaylee (Curtis) Taylor, Troy (Jess) Beirnes, Michael Iverson (Jaqui) and Laurissa Iverson (Anthony). Her much cherished great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Makayla, Brysco, Ethan, Nathan, Norah, Lucas, Madison, Adalyn, Peighton, Brody, Fiona and Owen. Fondly remembered by the Beirnes, Hagey and Clemens families and many dear friends. Visitation was at Fairview Mennonite Home Auditorium, 515 Langs Drive, Cambridge on Sunday, June 21, 2015 from 2: 00-4: 00 p.m. Funeral to be held at Trillium United Church, 450 King Street East, Cambridge on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 11: 00 a.m. with Rev. Mr. Hagey was born in Cambridge and lived all his life on the homestead farm.     BATTLER, Caroline Isabelle Caroline Isabelle "Belle" Battler passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Trinity Village Care Centre, Kitchener. She was born at home in Breslau on March 23, 1920 to Vernon and Violet (nee Hagey) Zeller. Belle joined her beloved husband, Howard who passed away July, 1987. They were married on July 4, 1943. Much loved mother of John (Penny) of Kitchener and Dan (Gloria) of Breslau. Beloved grandmother of Tori (Dan) Ryder of Kitchener, Vicki (Malcom) Sargla of Kitchener, and Brent (Kim) Battler, of Elmira. Will be fondly remembered by her eight great-grandchildren Holden and Makenna Ryder, Rebecca, Olivia and Grace Sargla, Owen, Sarah and Kaden Battler. Survived by her brother Robert Zeller, of Mississauga; sisters-in-law Margaret Zeller of Kitchener and Margery Battler of Brantford. Predeceased by her brothers Henry and Ron, sister Irene, sisters-in-law Mary and Gloria; brother-in-law Wayne Good. Belle was a longtime member of Breslau Evangelical Missionary Church (attended until the age of 90). She was baptized in the Breslau dam and loved and served the Lord all of her life. She was a nursery supervisor for 30 years and remembered all the babies' birthdays for many years. She worked at Smiles and Chuckles for 10 years and then for 26 years at Breslau Public School as a custodian. Here she was known for her "sticky donuts" which she made for teachers and many special get togethers. She retired at the age of 67. She also worked as a camp cook at Stayner Campgrounds for many years. Belle was funny and very loving, loved to laugh, hated to sing, and was a great cook. Friends are invited to share their memories of Caroline with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Monday, August 15, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. Interment Breslau Mennonite Cemetery, Breslau.

Had been employed at Bell Canada Ltd. for 38 years and was a member of the Bell Pioneers. Husband of the former Margaret Beitz; father of Paul of Hinton, Alta., Mrs Paul (Judy) Majury and Mrs. Brian (Linda) Bretz, both of Kitchener; brother of Robert of Mississauga, Ronald of London, Mrs. Howard (Belle) Battler of Breslau, Mrs. Wayne (Irene) Good of Blythe.     Howard was born into farming life in Elmira during the Great Depression, working alongside his brothers in the fields using teams of horses and attending a one room school house. Handy and hardworking, he moved to Waterloo to raise a daughter and son with his wife Arlene while working at Waterloo North Hydro for 30 years. Arlene passed away shortly before Howard retired and being a long time member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, he continued to volunteer with a smile and helping hand.

    He found love again and married Louise with whom he recently celebrated their 20th anniversary of caring for each other. Howie and Louise traveled to Florida in winter and spent the summer at Carson's Camp in Sauble Beach.

    Howie was one of the dedicated, retired hydro workers who assembled the Wonders of Winter, Christmas lights display every year at Waterloo Park.

    Predeceased by his parents Emerson and Grace (nee Snyder), his brothers Alvin and Harvey (Sandy) and his first wife Arlene (nee Beilstein).

    Howie is survived by his loving wife Louise (Herchenrader), his daughter Carolyn (Earl McCluskie), his son James (Theresa Scully), grandchildren Jeremy, Julia and Jennifer Cresswell, his brother Glen of Calgary and many nieces and nephews.
    A private family service will be held in remembrance. Donations in Howard's memory may be sent to the Food Bank of Waterloo Region and may be arranged by contacting the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
