    Notes:

    Nelson Miehm, 80, of 95 Franklin St., died today at St. Mary's Hospital.
    Mr. Miehm was a carpenter in Kitchener all his life and started Miehm and Sons Constuction and retired 10 years ago. He was born Nov. 12, 1884, at Centreville, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Miehm. He was a member of St. Aloysius RC Church, of the Holy Name Society and the Jolly Oldsters Club.
    He is survived by four sons, Leonard, Wilfred, Nelson Jr., and Jerome, all of Kitchener; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Marjorie) Bisch and Sister Rose Marie, principal of St. John's School, both of Kitchener; one brother, Charles of Kitchener; two sisters, Mrs. Bert (Martha) Sutton of Hamilton and Mrs. William (Geneva) Wheeler of Kitchener, 17 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
    He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes Rose, in 1957. They were married in Galt, Sept 15, 1913. He was also predeceased by one daughter, Alta, seven brothers and two sisters.
    The body is at the Schreiter Sandrock Funeral Home where prayers will be recited Friday at 8 p.m. followed by prayers by the St. John's PTA at 8: 30 p.m. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home Saturday at 8: 15 a.m. before requiem high mass at St. Aloysius Church at 8: 45 a.m. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery.

He was a former member of the Holy Name Society and an assistant treasurer of the credit union for approximately 20 years at St. Aloysius. RC Church. He ushered for 25 years first at St. Aloysius and latterly at St. Anthony Daniel. A retired steamfitter by trade he was a member of Local 87 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Hamilton, Ont. Husband of Verna (nee Meyer) Miehm; father to Betty Anne Brenneman and her husband Larry of Elmira., Larry Miehm and his wife Mary of Waterloo, Brian Miehm and his wife Theresa of Kitchener; grand, father to Laura-Lee Brenneman, Stephanie Miehm, Anna Brenneman, Heather Miehm, Rachel Miehm and Travis Miehm; step-grandfather to Jennifer Paetz and Sharon Paetz; brother. of Leonard Miehm of Mount Forest, Wilfred and Jerome Miehm, also Marjorie Bisch, all of Kitchener and Sister Rose Marie, SSND of Ladner, B.C.

    He was predeceased by his parents, Agnes and Nelson Miehm, as well as a sister, Alta Miehm. Visitation at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home and Chapel, 51 Benton at Church St., Kitchener, where the parish vigil. service will be held this evening (Monday) at 8 p.m. Prayers will be said at the funeral home. on Tuesday at 9: 30 a.m. after which transfer will be made to St. Aloysius RC Church (due to construction at St. Anthony Daniel) for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m„ Rev.. Stephen Stinson officiating. Interment. Woodland Cemetery.

    MIEHM, Sister Rose Marie, School Sister of Notre Dame Died at Hamilton General Hospital on May 3, 2012. Sister Rose Marie was 83 years of age and in her 63rd as a School Sister of Notre Dame. Predeceased by her parents Nelson and Agnes (Rose) Miehm and her brothers Leonard, Wilfrid, Nelson and her sister Marjorie Bisch. Lovingly remembered by the members of her religious community, her brother, Jerome and nieces and nephews. Sister Rose Marie began her teaching career at Basilica School, Hamilton. From there she moved to St. John and St. Teresa schools in Kitchener. She then was appointed principal at the following schools - St. Stephen School, Cayuga, Our Lady of Grace, Aurora, and in Kitchener, St. John, St. Joseph and St. Paul. In 1966 while Sister Rose Marie was at St. Joseph School, she offered English classes to the Portuguese parents. Her staff volunteered to assist her in teaching evening classes. During the second year of the ESL program, government grants financed the classes. From 1974 - 1976, she was director at Children's Village, St. Agatha. She then returned to teaching at Holy Family School, Hamilton and Martin of Tours, Stoney Creek. In 1978, Sister Rose Marie began some years on the missions as director of schools first in Calacota, Bolivia and then in Nahuala, Guatemala. On her return to Canada in 1983, Sister Rose Marie spent a few months in pastoral work in Beardmore, Ontario before going to Sacred Heart School, Ladner, British Columbia where she spent the last eight years of her teaching career as principal. Her leadership skills were again called upon when she was appointed director of the Spiritual Centre in Waterdown until it closed in 1997. Ever the educator, Sister Rose Marie then assisted with the diocesan catechetical correspondence program. Visitors will be received at Notre Dame Convent, Waterdown on Sunday, May 6, from 2: 00 - 4: 00 p.m. and 7: 00 -9: 00 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held on Sunday at 3: 00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, May 7 at 10: 30 a.m. Interment in Notre Dame Convent Cemetery.
