Mrs. John S. Frey

ST. JACOBS.\emdash The funeral of the late Mrs. John S. Frey was held on Monday morning. After a short service at her late residence, the memorial service was held in the Conestogo meeting house near the Three Bridges, which was largely attended.

She is survived by her husband, five daughters and seven sons: Mrs. Henry Bowman, Lexington, Mrs. Onias Weber, Hawkesville. Mrs. Allen Diefenbecker, 8th of Peel, Mrs. Amos Bowman and Mrs. Jacob Bowman of St. Jacobs. The sons are: Israel of Conestogo, Aaron, Tilman, Emanuel and Allen of St. Jacobs, John and Ezra of Heidelberg. One sister, Mrs. John Metzger, and one brother, Mr. Aaron Hoffman of Heidelberg, also survive.

John H. Metzger

Funeral service took place Friday at the RR1 Wallenstein home of John H. Metzger, who died last Tuesday at K-W Hospital. He was 60.

A further service was held at the South Peel Mennonite meeting house, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Metzger was born in Woolwich Township June 27, 1910, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Metzger.

Surviving are his wife, the former Lovina Bauman; six sons, Abner of RR1 Elmira, Edward of RR2 Wallenstein, Isaac, David and Amzie, all of RR1 Wallenstein and John in Alberta; two daughters, Mrs. Abner (Almeta) Martin of RR2 Wallenstein, and Ellen, at home.

Also surviving are nine brothers, Noah and Henry, both of RR2 Wallenstein, Aaron, Mose and Joseph, all of Elmira, George of RR1 St. Jacobs, Peter of St. Jacobs, Josiah of RR2 Waterloo, Abraham of RR1 Bamberg, and 15 grandchildren.

One brother predeceased him.

Martin Metzger, 36, of R.R. 1. St. Jacobs, died at the K-W Hospital on Tuesday, October 17, following a short illness.

Born in Woolwich Township. April 15, 1914, he was a son of John Metzger of R.R. 1, St. Jacobs, and the late Mrs. Metzger.

Surviving are his wife, the former Magdalena Bowman; two sons, Martin and Harold at home; two daughters, Selina and Lena at home; ten brothers, Noah, Henry, Moses, Josiah and Joseph of R.R. 2. Wallenstein; Aaron of R.R. 4. Elmira, George of Heidelberg, Peter and Abraham of R.R. 1, Bamberg, and John of R.R. 1. Wallenstein.

The body was at his home where the funeral was held Friday at 1:30 p.m., followed by a service at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church. Burial was in St. Jacobs Mennonite Cemetery with Rev. Simon Martin of Strasburg Mennonite Church officiating.

Hawkesville Youth Dies After Fall

Funeral service was held Wednesday for Leonard Frey, 21, of Hawkesville, who was fatally injured in a fall from a ladder June 30.

The Frey youth died at Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital Sunday as the result of head injuries, he did not regain consciousness.

He was installing a silo attachment on the farm of Jacob Wiens, RR 1, St. Clements, when the accident occurred. The victim was employed by Edgar S. Martin Ltd., a Hawkesville implement firm, and was installing a beam as part of a silo unloader when he fell.

A brother, Melvin Frey of Hawkesville, was working on the same project but did not witness the accident.

Mr. Frey had been employed by the Martin firm for about a year.

The service was held at the home of Melvin Frey, Hawkesville, and a further service followed at Martin's Meeting House. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery. The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, prior to the funeral service,

Mr. Frey was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Emmanuel Frey, of St. Jacobs. He attended Martin Mennonite Church, RR 1, Waterloo.

Surviving besides his parents and his brother, Melvin, are five other brothers, Edwin of RR 2, Waterloo, Abner and Edgar of Wallenstein, and Laverne and Willard at home and by four sisters, Mrs. Eugene (Viola) Martin, RR 1, Britton, Mrs. Mervin (Ada) Lichty, and Mrs. Menno (Florence) Wideman, both of RR 1, Ariss, and Mrs. Earl (Erma) Wideman of St. Jacobs.
