Frederick C. Luft
Frederick C. Luft, 69, of 665 Frederick St. died Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 17, 1897 in Kitchener, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Julius Luft, and was a purchasing agent in the textile division of Dominion Rubber Co. Ltd. for 47 years before retiring four years ago. He was a member of the 118th Battalion in the First World War and of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are his wife, the former Hilda Witte; a son, Donald, and a daughter, Esther, both of Kitchener; two brothers, Charles, Kitchener, and Edward, St. Thomas; one sister, Mrs. Norman (Martha) Hett, Kitchener, and one grandchild.
The body is at the Gruhn Funeral Home until Saturday at 11 a.m. when removal will be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church for a funeral service at 1 p.m. Rev. Dr. Henry W. Opperman will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's cemetery.

Obituary of Esther Marie Luft
January 23, 1926 \endash February 3, 2019
Esther passed suddenly in her 94th year with family at her side on Sunday, February 3, 2019. Esther Marie Luft of Waterloo, and more recently of Winston Park Retirement, was the daughter of Fred and Emma (Hiller) Luft and step-mom Hilda (Witte) Luft.
She is predeceased by her brother Donald (Ellen) Luft. Fondly remembered by her nephew Ross (Debbie) Luft and the Hett family especially Bill, Sandra and Thomas who had the distinct pleasure of calling her Aunt Esther and enjoying her company over many years, meals and celebrations.
Esther was a faithful lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Kitchener, and member of the Lutheran Women's League. She worked for the Lutheran Church in Philadelphia early in her career. Esther returned to K-W and worked in the Social Work Department at Wilfrid Laurier University until her retirement.
A celebration of Esther's life will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 with visitation from 11 \endash 11:45 a.m. followed by the funeral service in Funeral Home Chapel at 12 p.m. (noon). A reception in the funeral home's Fireside Room will immediately follow the service.
