Woolner. - John S. Woolner was born near Kossuth, Ont., Aug. 23, 1855; died at the home of his son-in-law, Geo. A. Weber, near Kitchener, Ont., on March 20, 1925; aged 69 y. 6 m. 28 d. In 1878 he was married to Hannah Clemmer, who with three sons (Addison, Nelson, and Vernon) and three daughters (Mrs. Geo. A. Weber, Mrs. Levi Cressman, and Mrs. Herbert Burkhart), together with 26 grandchildren and three brothers (Jacob, Martin, and Solomon) are left to mourn his departure. Bro. Woolner united with the Mennonite Church in 1885, of which he remained a consistent member. During the last number of years his mental powers failed him, having been deprived of speaking for nearly three years. Funeral services were held on the 23rd at the First Mennonite Church, Kitchener, with the brethren, C. F. Derstine and Oscar Burkholder, in charge. Interment in the cemetery adjoining the church.

The Woolner Farmstead buildings, located at 748 Zeller Drive, are situated in the north end of the City of Kitchener on 6.47 acres off scenic Zeller drive. The original Mennonite Georgian farmhouse and outbuildings were constructed in 1830. The farmhouse addition was built circa 1858, and the barn and concrete silo were built circa 1870.

Solomon Woolner

The death of Solomon Woolner, Elgin St., Kitchener, occurred on Friday. Sept. 22nd. The deceased, born in Kossuth. Waterloo Tp, was 71
years old.

There survive, his wife, Mrs. Pauline Woolner, 143 Elgin street, five sons and three daughters, Edwin, Ephriam, John and Lorne Woolner all of Kitchener and Victor Woolner of Bridgeport, and Mrs. Alvin Kraft and Mrs. Matthew Blumen of Kitchener and Miss Eleanor Woolner at home. Also surviving are 19 grand children and two brothers Rev, Ja cob Woolner of Kitchener and Mrs. Martin Woolner of Wardsville. The deceased was predeceased by three sons.

The funeral was held with a private service on Sunday the 24th at 3 p.m. at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home. Interment followed in the First Mennonite cemetery with Rev. U. K. Weber officiating.

Bechtel. - Hannah (Woolner) Bechtel was was born Aug. 8, 1865; died Nov. 10, 1908. She was married to Noah Bechtel, March 16, 1897. To this union were born five sons. She was of kind and gentle disposition, being a faithful member of the Mennonite Church for a number of years and will be greatly missed in the home and the church. Funeral services, Nov. 12, at the home by Bro. I. A. Wambold; at Wanner's M. H. by Bro. A. B. Snyder. May God comfort the bereaved ones

Weber.-Malinda Weber, daughter of the late John Woolner and wife, was born on the Woolner Homestead at Natchez, Oct. 28, 1879; passed away at her home at Parkway, near Kitchener, March 17, 1944, after a brief illness; aged 64 y. 4 m. 18 d. On Feb. 12, 1902, she was united in marriage to Deacon George A. Weber who predeceased her Aug. 21, 1941. During their entire married life they farmed at Parkway. She is survived by 5 daughters (Vera, wife of Urbin Snider, Bloomingdale; Mabel, wife of Clayton Siebert, Kitchener; Edna, wife of Edgar Martin, Elmira; Gladys, wife of Roy Shantz, Kitchener; and Mildred, at home), 3 brothers (Addison and Nelson Woolner, Natchez; and Vernon, Manheim), 2 sisters (Mrs. Levi Cressman, Kitchener; and Mrs. Herbert Burkhardt, Bridgeport), and 11 grandchildren. One daughter died in infancy. She was a lifelong member of the First Mennonite Church. She filled her place as Deaconess in the true way as a servant of the church. Her consistent life, her quiet, poised spirit, and her readiness to serve will always be remembered. She will be missed in the home, community, and church circles. Services were conducted by Bro. C. GEORGE ALVIN WOOLNER

The death took place at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday a. m, of Mr. Geo. Alvin Woolner, second son of Solomon and Pauline Woolner of Kitchener. He suffered an affection of the kidneys, for which he underwent several operations, but finally succumbed to the disease.

The late Mr. Woolner was born in a Kossuth, Waterloo Tp., on Dec. 10th, 1890, being in his 27th year. The family removed to Kitchener when he was about four years old and in his 18th year he united with the Trinity Methodist Church under the pastorate of Rev. S. E. Marshall. About four years ago he went to Prince Albert, Sask., but returned owing to ill-health. The deceased was a fine type of Canadian manhood, a great favorite and a patient, cheerful sufferer. The bereaved family have the sympathy of a wide circle of relatives and friends in their great loss. He is survived by his parents and two brothers in the war, John E. Woolner being "Some where in France," and Ephraim, at Militia Headquarters at Ottawa. It was a great grief to George that he was not able to go himself and take his place by their side.

The funeral took place on Fri day, Aug. 10th, at 2 o'clock p.m. from the home. 145 Elgin street, and at 2.30 p.m. at the East End Mennonite church and was conducted by his pastor, Rev. Charles A. Sykes, B.D., assisted by Rev. W.K. Weber, pastor of the Mennonite church.

DOROTHY ELIZABETH MASSEL (nee Kraft) 1918 - 2009 Passed away peacefully, at the Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Monday, February 2, 2009 in her 91st year with her family at her side. Loving mother of Betty Lou (Ron) Brunk; cherished grandmother of Charles Marshall (Marabel), Deborah Weiberg (Bob Meinema), Barbara Goodburn (Butch), Michael Brunk, Robert Brunk, and David Brunk (Leslie). Beloved great-grandmother to Sarah Marshall, Tamara, Nick and Shane Meinema and Krista Brunk; also survived by her brother, Clare Kraft and sisters, Anna Williams and Virginia Silver (Ron). Lovingly remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Jack Massel (1986); her son, Charles Massel and her daughter, Jane Marshall (Lorne); her brother, Donald Kraft (Grace); sister-in-law, Doris Kraft and brother-in-law, Henry Williams. To us who knew you as "Mom", "Grandma" and "Grandma-Great" you will be forever missed. Betty Margaret Fischer (Woolner)
Sept. 8, 1929 - July 15, 2018

It is with sadness we share the news of the death of Betty Fischer, who passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital on Sunday after a short illness. She was 88.

Betty could hardly have timed it better, leaving us one day before what would have been the 70th anniversary of her marriage to George, her inseparable partner in life and in the ups and downs of their beloved Toronto Blue Jays. George died in 2015, and now they are reunited to celebrate their special day.

Betty is survived by her children, Doug Fischer (Kathy), Linda Fischer and Connie Beamer (Dave), three grandchildren, Brenda Hannela (Ryan), Drew Fischer and Adam Beamer (Helen), as well as four great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Sophia, Hunter and Kayla.

Betty is also survived by her loving brother Larry Woolner, sister-in-law Ruth Clarke and brother-in-law Jim Fiddler as well as her dear friend of more than 60 years, Marg Reist.

In addition to her husband, Betty is predeceased by her parents Lorne and Mary Woolner, sister Diane Woolner and many in-laws: Marlene Woolner, Marie and Reg Taylor, Milt Clarke, Dorothy and Jerry Eckert and Janet Fiddler.

A woman of quiet faith, Betty was a longtime fan of the music of Lawrence Welk, and most weekends could be heard merrily singing along in front of the TV.

For 20 years, she and George made an annual winter pilgrimage to Florida, where they formed a group of close and lasting friends. And for more than 40 years, they saved one Saturday every month for a lively evening of solo with their great friends Karl and Shirley Siegel.

Betty was a lifelong resident of Kitchener, where over the years she worked at Superior Box Co., Cluett Peabody (Arrow shirts) and in the cafeteria at Cameron Heights Collegiate.

At St. Mary's Hospital, special thanks are owed to Dr. Bridget Campbell and the seventh floor nursing staff, especially Sunila and Jane. Thanks also to the caring staff at Parkwood Mennonite Home, where Betty lived her final five months.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467. The Funeral will be held in the Chapel at 12:00 noon followed by a reception at the funeral home. Interment at Woodland Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
