    Alexander McKenzie Hall

    One of South Dumfries Township's most prominent citizens, in the person of Alexander McKenzie Hall passed away on Tuesday, September 9th at St. Joseph's Hospital in Brantford. He was in his 74th year. Born on the Hall homestead, RR 3, Ayr, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Hall. Mr. Hall farmed at RR 3, Ayr until retiring to Paris in 1968. "Mike", as he was fondly known to friends from near and far, was active in many organizations. He was one of Ontario's best known breeders of Shorthorn cattle. In addition to showing Shorthorns, he was often called upon to judge beef cattle. He was active in the Paris Fair, Ayr sporting organizations and other community groups. He was a member of Knox United Church, Ayr. Surviving besides his wife, the former Laurel Nelles; are a son Keith on the home farm; a daughter Mrs. Dale (Carol) Rutledge of Honeywood, Ont.; and seven grandchildren. Predeceased by his first wife, the former Isabel Cochrane in 1948 and a sister Miss Florence Hall in 1960. Funeral arrangements, which will not be completed until later today (Wed.) are being handled by the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, Paris.
