    Melvin J. Murphy

    Melvin J. Murphy, 58, of 120 Brentwood Ave. died today following a heart attack at his home.

    He died only six days after his brother Clarence, 56, of Preston, who also died of a heart attack.

    Born in Brantford, Mr. Murphy lived for 25 years in Preston, where he was president of the Preston Foundry and Canadian Magnesium Co. When he moved to Kitchener 11 years ago he became associated with M. Brown and Sons Steel company and during the past 16 years had worked for the A. J. Braun Manufacturing Co.

    He was a past president of the Ontario Purchasing Agents Association and a member of the group's executive council for several years. He was a member of St. Anne's RC Church and the Knights of Columbus.

    Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Frank, whom he married in 1936; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Murphy of Kitchener; one son Frank, at home; two daughters, Linda at home and Mrs. Eugene (Mary Patricia) McCarthy of Guelph; three brothers, Clifford of Buffalo, Rev. Bernard of Kitchener and William of Preston; two sisters, Eileen of Kitchener and Mrs. William (Rita) O'Neill of Oshawa and three grandchildren.

    Besides his brother Clarence he was predeceased by another brother Norman in 1956.

    The body will be at the Schreiter Sandrock Funeral Home until 9:30 a.m. Thursday when removal will be made to St. Anne's Church for a requiem high mass at 10 a.m. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Clement's Cemetery, Preston.

    Clarence A. Murphy

    At 360 Wellington St. S., a well-known and near life-long resident of Preston, died today in the South Waterloo Memorial Hospital, in his 57th year. Born in Brantford, the late Mr. Murphy was resident in Preston for 50 years. He had been ill for the past few months. He was manager of Preston Metal and Roofing Co., for the past five years prior to which be was with Eastern Steel, for a number of years. The late Mr. Murphy was a member of St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, past Deputy Grand of the Knights of Columbus and past president of the Holy Name Society. He was a trustee of the Separate School Board for a number of years and served for a year on the board of education.

    On Wednesday, May 22, 1974, suddenly, at his residence in Bermuda; son of the late Arthur Murphy and Florence Clawsey; brother of William of Cambridge (Preston), Mrs. John (Eileen) Seifred of Guelph, Mrs. William (Rita O'Neil) of St. Catharines; predeceased by four brothers. Funeral mass at St. Theresa's Cathedral, Bermuda, Monday, May 27. Body will lie in state, in St. Clements Church, Cambridge (Preston), from 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 29. Wake service 9 p.m. Wednesday. Pontifical concelebrated mass, Thursday, 11 a.m. Burial in St. Clements cemetery, Preston.
