    Kitchener Firm Finds Specialties Profitable

One of the nicest small city furniture stores in Canada is that of Grosz & Hohmeier, Kitchener, Ont. The store occupies three floors on the main street in what is probably the centre of the shopping district in the city. On the first floor is a general line of furniture supplemented by such specialties as sewing machines, plaster ornaments, table lamps, doll carriages, pictures, etc…. On the second floor Grosz & Hohmeier have musical instruments. The piano and talking machine departments are well worth while.

We might get more business in these lines if we went out after orders, but we feel that this would hurt us. You know we have an undertaking department, and anyone in that business must be very careful about indiscriminately calling in the neighborhood. Sick people are very sensitive and nothing disturbs them more than the thought of an undertaker keeping his eye on them in search of business. So we wouldn't let any agent make house to house visits for us. At the same time our business in musical instruments is growing….We have arranged to handle one of the big lines of records. This will help. Business is good," concluded Mr. Grosz.
