    Albert Brodhaecker

    PRESTON—Albert E. Brodhaecker 950 Coronation Blvd., Preston, died Monday at South Waterloo Hospital, Galt. He was 92. Mr. Brodhaecker was born at Ayton, Ont. He moved from Arthur in 1927 to Dickie Settlement where he farmed for many years. In 1931 he moved to Preston. He had lived retired for several years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church. He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. Surviving are his wife the former Louisa Skerritt; three sons, Telford of Kitchener, Harry of RR 2, Galt and Arthur of Galt; three daughters, Mrs. Maude Crewson and Mrs. Albert (Frances) Stinson both of Preston and Mrs. Harvey (May) Letson of Galt; three sisters, Mrs. Leah Snelgrove of North Battleford, Sask, Mrs. Bertha Toby, of Grandora, Sask. and Mrs. Alex (Matilda) Crone, of Vancouver, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The body is at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home where funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 3: 30 p.m. Interment will be in Preston Park Lawn cemetery. Rev. Ian Fleming of St. Paul's United Church will officiate.

Mr. Brodhaecker was born in Wellington township near Arthur, farmed for a number of years in Waterloo County, retired in Kitchener, before moving to Cambridge, in 1977. Mr. Brodhaecker was predeceased by his first wife, Ethel Fried in 1974; one sister, Maude and a brother, Arthur. Surviving are 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Brodhaecker was born in the County of Wellington, West Luther township; had resided in North Dumfries township and RR 2, Cambridge (Galt) since 1927. A retired farmer, he had served on the North Drumfries school board for a number of years; a member of Grace United Church, Roseville, where he was superintendent of the Sunday school, for a number of years. Past president of the North Dumfries Plowmen's Association; past president of Dickie Settlement Home and School; a member of North Dumfries senior citizens and a member of the New Dundee senior citizens. Friends will be received at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, today (Saturday), 2-4 and 7-9.     After a long, courageous battle with cancer, on February 25, 2013 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in his 74th year. Loving husband and best friend of Barbara and beloved father of Les (Barbara), Doug (Maureen), and Susie Dwyer (Greg). Proud grandfather to Steve, Tom, Michael, Linzee, Samantha, Austin, Kailey, and Makenna. Predeceased by parents Telford and Susie Brodhaecker, brother Ward (Vivian), and daughter-in-law Joan. Howard was a devoted father and grand-father whose life was dedicated to being there for his family. The family would like to extend their thanks to the Third Floor Nursing Staff and the Oncology Department at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Friends will be received at the BARTHEL FUNERAL HOME, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge, 519-653-3251 on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday March 2, 2013 at Doon Presbyterian Church, 35 Roos Street, Kitchener at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place.     Passed away peacefully at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Sunday, August 5, 2007. Loving husband of Vivian Marie (nee Campbell). Devoted brother of Howard (Barbara) Brodhaecker. Sisters-in-law Jean (Bill) Deacon, Doris (Jim) Litwiller and Gren Campbell. Will be sadly missed by his 12 nieces, nephews, and their spouses and also many great-nieces and nephews. Ward retired from the Ministry of Transportation in 1963 after 18 years of service and then worked for Compact Sod for 10 years. He was a supporting member of the Knox Presbyterian Church in Preston for many years and an avid bowler who received many awards, his continuous jokes and sense of humour will greatly missed by all who knew him. Predeceased by his parents, Telford Edward Brodhaecker of Arthur and Susie Bell (Wanner) of Strausburg and brother-in-laws Harold, Delmer and Charles Campbell. Arrangements entrusted to the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd. Cambridge ON. (519) 653-3251. A private graveside service to follow at a later date.     Of Drayton, passed away, peacefully, surrounded by his family, after a short but courageous battle with cancer, at Palmerston and District Hospital, on Thursday, Sept. 23, 1993, at the age of 56 years. Beloved husband and best friend of Jean Kemkes; dearest father of Margaret and her husband Steve Vogel of RR 2, Moorefield, Daryl and his fiancee Janet Zandbelt and Darlene, all of Drayton; special grandpa of Nathan, Lorie and Kristy Vogel; beloved brother of Shirley and her husband Richard Schiedel of Cambridge, Dorothy Martin of Baden, Don Brodhaecker and his wife Lynn of Cambridge and Jean and her husband Terry Rickert of Mannheim; brother-in-law of Jessie and Ken Jessop of Orton, David and Lucille Kemkes of Branchton and Dan and Eleanor Shantz of Petersburg; son-in-law of Bessie Kemkes of Cambridge. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Ethel (Fried) and Harry Brodhaecker; his step-mother, Cleo (Wanner) Brodhaecker and his brother-in-law, Harold Martin. Orville took a very active part in many church and community activities. He was past president of the Drayton Agriculture Society and the Wellington County Plowmen's Association. He was the director for Wellington County on the Ontario Plowmen's Association, Past Elder and Steward of Drayton United Church, former 4-H Club Leader, Past Director on the Wellington County Milk Committee and a former member of the Drayton Curling Club. The family will receive friends at the Heritage Funeral Home, Drayton on Saturday evening, Sept. 25, from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, Sept. 26, 1993, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Rev. Fred Hagle and Rev. Paul Ellingham will conduct the funeral service in the Drayton United Church on Monday, Sept. 27, 1993, at 2 p.m. Interment in Drayton Cemetery.
