Interesting Murder Case: Franz Lobinski was murdered in Wellesley on 11 January 1911. There is an extensive account of the inquest in the Waterloo Chronicle Telegraph for 2 Feb 1911 and 23 February 1911. The verdict stated that he was "murdered, but by some person or persons unknown to the jurors;" however, the jury then stated that they could not recommend the arrest of anyone," circumstantial evidence leads us strongly to the conclusion that Joseph Nowak, junior, Philip Nowak, Martin Nowak and Tony Hinz were implicated therein, in which finding the jurors are unanimous." There was quite a stir among the populace over the case.

The jurors were: Egidlus Mosberger of Wilmot; Martin Kieswetter of Bamberg; Henry Alteman, Chas. Ottman, Chas. D. Koehler, Fred Bivour, Michael Wilhelm, Henry Kelterborn, Joseph Kieswetter, Philip Moser, Louis Rank, Jacob Straus, Andrew Diebold, all of Wellesley.

MISER FOUND DEAD

Body of Franz Lobinski, Aged Seventy, Discovered in Yard With Head Beaten in With Hammer. Wesley, Ont.. Jan. 13. The bodv of Franz Lobinski, 70 years of age, was found in the yard of his shack in the bush, two miles east of this village, near Berlin, this morning. He had murdered, his head having been Beaten with a hammer, which was found in field nearby. The only clue to the murdered is a culler track and the footprints of a team of horses in the snow.

Lobinski was undoubtedly murdered for his money. Ho has had the reputation of being a miser. Whether or not he was tortured before death is not known, but the fact that he was left, fastened by a wire rather high up on a post in tile yard leads to that surmize, or to thu other that he was not dead, and his assailant wanted to make certain he did not escape while he was searching for the buried gold. Loblnski's shack is about a mile from any other habitation. A woodcutter, who has been accustomed to rail on him, failing to notice smoke, called this morning and found the body. He had lived in the neighborhood about forty years. His wife died six years ago. He was a. Polander. He had apparently been first assaulted in the house and the body dragged out, as the trail of blood The crime evidently took place yesterday.
