PAGEL, Albert

At his residence, Pinehaven Nursing Home, Waterloo, on Sunday, July 8, 1990, in his 100th year. Mr. Pagel was born in Germany and was a son of the late Louisa and William Pagel. Mr. Pagel was the first full time Fire Chief for the City of Waterloo, joining the fire department as a volunteer in 1910 and retiring as Fire Chief in 1958. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Waterloo and an honorary member of the Waterloo Rod and Gun Club. He was predeceased by his first wife, Christina Wagner in 1970 and his second wife, Lillian Brutzki in 1979: a son and daughter-in-law, George and Verna Pagel and 12 brothers and sisters. Beloved father of Eileen and her husband George Ellis of Waterloo. He is also lovingly remembered by four grandchildren, Ken Pagel, Holly Jane Keil and Tom and Jim Ellis and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Pagel's family will receive friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, from 7-9 p.m. this evening (Monday) and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday. At noon Wednesday, transfer will be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, for the funeral service at 3 p.m., with Rev. Eric Weber officiating. Interment to follow in Mount Hope cemetery, Waterloo.
