    Bender, Veronica S., daughter of Joel and Elizabeth (Brenneman) Swartzentruber, was born at Petersburg, Ont., Oct. 16, 1881; died, after an extended illness, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Millis Leis, Tavistock, Ont., March 20, 1962; aged 80 y. 5 m. 4 d. On Sept. 29, 1910, she was married to Jacob R. Bender, who preceded her in death on April 23, 1947. Her husband was ordained to the ministry in 1914, and she served faithfully with him in his work. Also preceding her in death was one daughter. Surviving are 3 sons (Wilfrid, Tavistock; Cleason, Scottdale, Pa.; and Wallace, Tavistock), 2 daughters (Annie-Mrs. Millis Leis and Violet-Mrs. Elmer Zehr, Hesston, Kans.), 19 grandchildren, and one sister (Mrs. Nancy S. Roth, Stratford). She was a member of the East Zorra A.M. Church, where funeral services were conducted March 24, by Dale Schumm, Henry Yantzi, and Elmer Schwartzentruber.

    Schwartzentruber, John B., son of the late Joel and Elizabeth (Brenneman) Schwartzentruber, was born in Petersburg, Ont., Oct. 25, 1882; died March 31, 1956, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law; aged 73 y. 5 m. 6 d. In the year 1946 he suffered a stroke and remained an invalid for 9 years. Three days prior to his death he suffered another stoke from which he never recovered. In his youth he accepted Christ as his Saviour and united with the Amish Mennonite Church of which he remained a faithful member. On Nov. 24, 1909, he married Lydia Bender, who preceded him in death on Aug. 1, 1940. He is survived by his daughter (Lily Mae-Mrs. Henry Yantzi, of Eat Zorra), 2 sons (Serenus, of East Zorra, and Corson, of New Hamburg), 16 grandchildren, 2 brothers (Joseph and Peter of Petersburg), and 2 sisters (Mrs. Jacob R. Bender, of South Easthope, and Mrs. Nick L. Roth of New Hamburg). Two brothers, 2 sisters, and 2 grandchildren preceded him. Funeral services held at the East Zorra Church on April3 were in charge of Daniel Wagler and David Swartzentruber, with interment in the adjoining cemetery.

She lived with her parents and tenderly cared for her invalid mother for over 42 years. Her mother has been blind for the last 8 years. Katie leaves to mourn her departure her aged mother, 2 sisters (Mrs. Jacob R. Bender, Tavistock, Ont.; Mrs. Nic. Roth, New Hamburg), 3 brothers (John B. Schwartzentruber, East Zorra, and Joseph and Peter Schwartzentruber, Petersburg. Ont.), 11 nephews, and 8 nieces. Funeral services were held at the home of her mother, Oct. 19. 1943, in charge of Bros. Menno Wagler and Elmer Schwartzentruber, and at the St. Agatha A. M. Church by Bros. Peter Nafziger and Moses O. Jantzi. Interment in adjoining cemetery.

    Obituary of Lloyd Schwartzentruber

    January 11, 1924 - December 1, 2018


    Lloyd passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Hanover Village LTC, on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the age of 94.

    Beloved husband of Ida (nee Shantz) for 64 years. Loving father of Gail Veitch (Elvin Martin). Cherished grandfather and great-grandfather of Graham (Lindsay) and their children Bryson and Sloane, Bryan (Holly) and their children Zac and Raya, and Katie (Chris) Armstrong and their son Sam. Will be fondly remembered by his sisters-in-law Jean Swartzentruber, Helen Shantz and Marie Shantz.

    Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Barbara (nee Jantzi) Schwartzentruber; brother of Lester (Erma), Ray, Omar (Ada), Glen as a child and Edith (Mel) Erb. Brother-in-law of Howard (Hilda), Wilfred (Selda), Armand (Irene), Nyal (Helen), Etta (Lloyd) Shantz, Robert (Lena), Mahlon, Ion, Arley (Mabel), and Esther (Aaron) Enns.

    Lloyd was a longtime member of Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, Kitchener.

    Friends are invited to celebrate Lloyd's life and share memories with his family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday, December 7, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

    A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. Reception to immediately follow in the Fireside Reception Room.

    SCHWARTZENTRUBER, Erlis - Erlis Schwartzentruber, 84, of Tavistock, passed away, in Stratford General Hospital, on Friday, January 24, 2003.He was born in Wilmot township, Waterloo County, on July 13, 1918, a son of the late Peter Schwartzentruber and the former Katie Brenneman. Erlis had farmed in the township of East Zorra-Tavistock on his farm known as Telview Holsteins where he was a breeder of registered holstein cattle for more than 40 years. He was a member of Tavistock Mennonite Church.He is survived by his wife, the former Mildred Eileen Drudge, whom he married in Waterloo on May 15, 1954; three daughters, Gloria Schwartzentruber and her husband Michael Rumball and their son Christian of Toronto, Sonya Schwartzentruber and her husband Jim Bender and their children Jill and Ann of New Hamburg, Jenny Myers and her husband David and their children Wesley and Lauren of Stratford; one son, Larry Schwartzentruber and his wife Julie and their children Meghan, Ashley and Emily of RR 2 Tavistock; one brother, Stanley Swartzentruber and his wife Selma of Kitchener; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Lettie Wagler of Goderich, Raymond Drudge and Gladys Indoe, both of Kitchener, Ruth Golbeck and Erma Drudge, both of Waterloo, along with several nieces and nephews.Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Alice Wagler and his brothers-in-law, Elvin Drudge, Harold Golbeck and Lloyd Indoe.Relatives and friends will be received in Tavistock Mennonite Church, Tavistock, today (Monday) from 4-7 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at 11 a.m. Pastor Darrel Toews will officiate. Interment in East Zorra Mennonite Cemetery, 16th line.     BRENNEMAN, WITHROW

    On Sunday, January 24, 1982, at his residence in Heidelberg, Withrow Brenneman, aged 61 years. Mr. Brenneman was the owner of the Heidelberg Hotel; a member of First United Church, Waterloo, Paradise and District Lion's Club, Greenwood Rod and Gun Club, K-W Sales and Ad Club and the Waterloo County Hotel and Motel Association.

    He was also a veteran of the Second World War.

    Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brenneman; husband of the late Marjorie Westman; father of Gregory of Kitchener and the late Lyn Brenneman.

    Also survived by his aunt, Mrs. Mary Clark, of Hamilton. Mr. Brenneman's family will receive friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, after 7 p.m. today, until noon on Thursday, when removal will be made to First United Church for the funeral and committal services at 3 p.m., Rev. R.H. McColl officiating. Interment at Waterloo Parkview cemetery.
