    Moses Shupe was born in Waterloo county, Ontario, Canada, March 26, 1830, and died at Lost Springs, Kan., Dec. 14, 1912, aged 82 years, 8 months and 19 days.

    He was married to Charlotte Fisher In 1849 and they lived together 63 years.

    To this union 9 children were born, 7 boys and 2 girls, all of whom are living. There are now living 56 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

    His sickness started with La Grippe and a slight stroke of paralysis from which he never recovered.

    He was converted early in life and united with the River Brethren church of which he was still a faithful member at his death.

    The end came in great peace, falling asleep in Jesus. He often praised God with a loud voice during the days of his sickness and often expressed the desire of having God's word read and to be prayed with. He left unmistakable evidence of his acceptance with God.

    Funeral was held in the Evangelical church, services conducted by Bishop Engel. interment in I.O.O.F. cemetery.

    Funeral rites for Isaac F. Shupe, who died at the home of his daughter, over the week-end will be held at the HIII-Alberti funeral home in Newkirk. After a simple funeral service the body will be taken to Lost Springs, Kansas.

    He is survived by his widow. Mrs. I. P. Shupe, two daughters. Mrs. J. K. Miller, and Mrs. T. H. Anderson of Montana, and four sons, E.G. Shupe of Benson, Saskatchewan, O. L Shupe of Carstairs. H. K Shupe of Montana, and W. E. Shupe of Wichita.

    Moses F. Shupe, 80, resident of Huron county 46 years, died Tuesday in his home here [Bad Axe].

    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Colfax Mennonite church, of which he had been a member many years. Rev. J. A. Avery and Rev. John E. Tuckey will officiate. Burial will be in Colfax cemetery.

    Mr. Shupe is survived by his widow; six sons, Byron Shupe, New York; Ion Shupe, Battle Creek; Clyde and Andrew Shupe, both of Bad Axe; Lee Shupe, Flint, and Alfred Shupe, Owendale; four daughters, Miss Loretta Shupe, Kalamazoo; Mrs. Thomas B. Jackson and Miss Mae Shupe, both of Bad Axe; and Mrs. David Jardine, Ubly; 12 grandchildren and a brother, Menno Shupe, Lost Springs, Kans.

    Mr. Shupe was born July 18, 1860 in Waterloo county, Ontario.

    Mrs. Melanchton Shantz

    DIDSBURY, Alta., Mrs. Melanchton Shantz of Disdbury, Alta., formerly of New Dundee, died Sunday, in Disbury Hospital. She was 90. The former Samantha Shantz, she was born in Waterloo County, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Christian Shantz. She was married in Wilmot Township in 1902 and moved west with her husband, to farm. She was a member of Didsbury Missionary Church. She was predeceased by her husband, in 1969 and is survived by two sons, Birtil Clarence of Kitchener and Emerson of Dids-,bury: three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Alfa ) Brado and Mrs. Ele ( Marie) From both of Didsbury and Mrs. Ruth Kasher of North Vancouver, B.C.: two brothers, Rev. Sidney Shantz of Preston and Harold of New Dundee; two sisters, Olive and Aida of New Dundee; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at Disbury Missionary Church, Wednesday. Burial will be in Didsbury cemetery.

    A member of Shantz Mennonite Church, Baden. Sister of Russell Shantz and Violet (Mrs. Noah Heater), both of Waterloo and Edna (Mrs. Clinton Habel) of Kitchener.

    Predeceased by her parents, Herman Shantz and the former Sarah Ann Schmit;: two brothers, Lincoln and Lloyd; three sisters, Mrs. Alfreda Roth, Mrs. Lyla Roth and Mrs. Salena Cressman.

    The funeral service was held at the Ratz-Bechtel funeral chapel, Kitchener on Saturday, with Chaplain Gerald Schwartzentruber (Nithview Home) officiating. Interment in Shantz Mennonite cemetery, Baden.

    PRESTON, Charles Toman, 70, of RR 1, Preston, died Tuesday, at his home. Mr. Toman was born in Waterloo Township and had lived at RR 1, Preston, since 1916. He was the last survivor of the immediate family of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Toman. He had been employed for 50 years at Clare Brothers Limited, Preston. He was a member of Bethany United Missionary Church, Kitchener. Surviving are his wife, the former Cora Kinzie, and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Earl, in 1958. In 1981 they moved to an apartment in the Fairview Mennonite Complex, Cambridge. Floyd died in 1986. Marjorie was a faithful member of Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church, New Dundee. Marjorie is survived by her five children, Marian (Fred) Witmer of New Hamburg, Vernon (Leone) Sherk of Kitchener, Kathryn Sherk of Kitchener, Allan (Carolyn) Sherk of Mississauga and Alice (Pete) Gill of Indiana. Survived by nine grandchildren, Joan (Paul) Doehn, James (Karen) Witmer, Bevin (Crystal) Witmer, Sheila (Doug) Dedman, Wendy (Brian) Wiens, Peter (Paula) Sherk, Lisa (Amitai) ben David, Kimberly (Chris) Brand and Rhonda (Mike) Williams.     EARLMONT ELMER POTH 1922 - 2007 Earl passed away peacefully, at the Maples Nursing Home, Tavistock, on Sunday, July 15, 2007, after a lengthy illness, at age 85. Dearly loved father of Connie and Ken Dietrich of St. Agatha and Nancy and Rob Becker of Durham; loving grandfather to Craig and Terri Dietrich and Jamie, Josie, and Justin Becker; brother of Ken and Ida Poth of New Dundee. Earl was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Elsie Poth; a brother, Robert; a sister and brother-in-law, Muriel and Glen Dilworth, and sister-in-law, Phyllis Poth. Also predeceased by Gert Poth. During the Second World War, Earl served in the Black Watch Regiment. He also had many hobbies including bird watching, stamp collecting, listening to Big Band music, and the Wurlitzer organ. Friends are invited to share their memories of Earl with his family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo today (Tuesday) from 7-9 p.m. There will be a graveside committal service held at New Dundee Union Cemetery at 1: 30 on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 followed by a memorial service in the funeral home chapel at 3 p.m. A reception will then be held in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. Condolences for the family and donations to the Parkinson Society may be arranged through the funeral home, 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com. In living memory of Earl, a tree will be planted through the Trees for Learning Program by the funeral home.

    At St. Mary's Hospital, on Monday, March 22, 1999, following a lengthy illness, Raymond Toman, of Winston Park Retirement Home, Kitchener and formerly of Cambridge (Preston), age 83 years. Mr. Toman was a longtime employee of Clare Brothers before retirement. He was a member of Doon Valley Golf Club. He was also a volunteer fireman with the Preston Fire Department. Loving father of Virginia (tinny) and her husband Bob Hibbs of Kitchener. Survived by three grandchildren, Kelley and her husband Ed, Sheri, Kimberley and her husband Robert; brother of Norm Toman and his wife Kay of Kitchener, Ruth Bowman and her husband Valtin of Cambridge (Preston), Marlene Bowman and her husband Gord of Kitchener. Remembered by nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; first wife, Gladys (Triller); second wife, Hilda (Schultz); two brothers, Art and Rueben Toman. Friends and relatives may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday at 2: 30 p.m., with Rev.     PRESTON, Earl Toman, 44, of RR 1, Preston, died Saturday, at the South Waterloo Memorial Hospital. Mr. Toman was born in Waterloo Township and had resided in this district all his life. He was a poultry farmer, a member of the school board area No. I Waterloo Township and a member of Bethany United Missionary Church, Kitchener. Surviving are his wife and two daughters, Nancy and Mary Ann, both at home. The body is resting at the H. K. Stagcr Funeral Home. The funeral will he conducted at Bethany United Missionary Church, Kitchener, Tuesday, at 2.30 p.m. Rev. I. K. Sider will officiate. Burial will follow at the Preston, Park Lawn Cemetery.
