    William Dreiver was raised in Preston and as a young man worked for Clare Bros. Ltd. and Geo. Pattinson & Co. In 1880 he moved to Chicago where he lived for 30 years returning in 1911 and from 1913 to 1942 he operated the Preston Garage. It he and his fiancee Mary Homuth who in 1889 were credited with breaking an old church custom which saw the men sit on one site of the church and woman on the other. He was a member of the Preston Parks Board for thirty years and was involved in the reforestation project in Riverside Park.

    William Driever, Sr.

    PRESTON - William L. Drieber, Sr., 94, of 552 Queen St., Preston, died suddenly at his home today. Born in Preston, he lived in Chicago for 30 years. He operated a business here until 1942 when he retired. Surviving are a son, William, Jr., and two grandchildren. The body is at Stager-Pass Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2: 30 p.m. Interment will be in Preston Cemetery.

Beloved husband of the late Gladys Sturdy; dear father of Eleanor of Cambridge and Dorothy (Mrs. Herbert Wyngard) of Dearborn, Mich.; grandfather of Gregory, Lauri and Steven. Mr. Driever was born in Chicago, USA; a resident of Cambridge for 70 years; owned and operated the first car dealership in Preston; a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Friends will be received at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, Friday evening 7-9. Funeral service Saturday at 11 a.m. at Parklawn cemetery chapel. Interment in Preston cemetery.
