    St. Jacobs - Mrs. John Fries, St. Jacobs, died Sunday at K-W Hospital after a brief illness. She was 91.

    The former Ellenora Stroh, she was born in Waterloo June 23, 1879, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stroh. She was a member of St. James' Lutheran Church, St. Jacobs.

    Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Clayton (Leona) Fries of Elmira, Mrs. Henry (Lorena) Hemmerich of Tavistock and Mrs. Ida Schweitzer of Preston; 17 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

    Mrs. Fries was predeceased by her husband, one brother, and two sisters.

    The body will be at the Dreisinger funeral Parlor after Tuesday noon until Thursday noon, when removal will be made to St. James' Lutheran Church, St. Jacobs where the funeral service will be conducted at 2: 30 pm by Rev. Harold Brill. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo.

    Visitation at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, after Tuesday noon. Service in the chapel on Wednesday, July 12, at 11 a.m. Interment in St. James Lutheran cemetery. Donations to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Born in Woolwich township, Waterloo county, a daughter of the late John Fries and the former Ellenora Stroh. Resident of Tavistock for 50 years, where she and her husband owned and operated the Arlington Hotel from 1948-1962. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Sebastopol-Tavistock, the Tavistock Seniors Community Club and was a regular attender of the Tavistock Legion Euchre Parties. Predeceased by her husband, Henry Michael Hemmerich; her friend Lawrence Dellow; her sons, Harold Hemmerich and Wilfred Hemmerich; her grandchildren, Shawn Hemmerich and Rene Hemmerich; her brother, Henry Fries and her sister, Leona Fries. Mother of Shirley, and her husband Lorne Turford of Mitchell; mother-in-law of Ruth Hemmerich of Parry Sound, Nola Bennett of Salmon Arm, B.C., grandmother of five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister of Ide Schweitzer of Cambridge. Friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock, today (Thursday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in Trinity Lutheran Church, Sebastopol-Tavistock on Friday, Sept. 4, 1998 at 3 p.m., the Rev. Norman Lange will officiate. Interment in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Beloved husband of Carol (nee Zettel) and loving father of Daniel and Heather; dear son of Jean Fries and brother to David, Greg and his wife Karen and Nancy and her husband Wayne Zinger. Predeceased by his father, Claude Fries. Relatives and friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, today (Saturday), 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Transfer will be made Monday morning, 9 a.m. to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 554 Bridgeport Rd., Kitchener, where the visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Rev. Alan Kehn officiating. Interment Parkview Cemetery. Reception to follow in the church hall of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
