    ERBSVILLE.

    (Too late for last week.) Death of Mrs. John Bierman. - It becomes our sad duty to report this week the death of Mrs. Jno. Bierman which took place on Monday of last week. The news comes as a sudden and unexpected shock to the many friends of the family, as it had not been generally known that the deceased had been ailing, much less that she was so near death's door. The cause of her death is given as premature childbirth, accompanied by convulsions. That her death was most unexpected will be understood when it is known that the deceased milked a cow on the morning of the day of her death, and attended to her, other various household duties as usual. Dr. Armitage was sent for at noon, and he expressed his opinion on leaving the house that Mrs. Bierman would recover. But internal cramps seized her in the afternoon, and she was soon beyond all human aid, breathing her last about 8 o'clock in the evening. Her end was peaceful. Thus are we snatched suddenly from life unto death. The late Mrs. Bierman (whose maidea name was Trussler), was 33 years, 11 months, of age, and had been married to Mr. Bierman for 17 years. She was the, mother of six children, only three of whom survive her. One of these is the prematurely born infant, which is said to be thriving well. The others. are little girls of 9 and 4 years of age. The bereaved family have the heartfelt sympathy of a large circle of sorrowing friends, who respected and admired the departed for her many gentle and Christian qualities..

Sheard. -     There passed away after a two years' illness at her home near here on Saturday night last one of the respected residents of this community in the person of Mrs. Titus Sheard. The funeral took place from her late residence northeast of here on Wednesday at one p.m. thence to the Lutheran church at Mannheim for service and interment. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved.

    The death of Laura Wilhelmina Smith, wife of J. L. Witzel, occurred Sunday afternoon at 4.50 o'clock at her home on Whitney Place after a lingering illness. Deceased leaves to mourn her death her husband and one daughter, Elvera, who is six years of age, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hv. Smith, of Mannheim, one sister, Mrs. Eph. Hillgartner, of this city, and three brothers, Mr. Henry D. Smith, New Dundee, Mr. John Smith at home, and Mr. Edward Smith of Stratford. The funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1.30 o'clock from the family residence, 16 Whitney Place, thence to the First English Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at the Mannheim cemetery.

    EDWARD H. SCHMIDT

    Funeral service was held Sunday at St. James Lutheran church. Mannheim for Edward Henry Schmidt, 76, of RR2 Petersburg. He died Friday at K-W hospital after a brief illness.

    Rev. Richard Holm officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

    A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schmidt, he was born September 30, 1893. at RR2 Petersburg: Mr. Schmidt was the last surviving member of his family.

    He is survived by his wife, the former Emma Hillgartner, whom he married December 18, 1919.

    Besides his wife. he is survived by three sons, Wally of RR2 New Hamburg. Maurice of RRI Durham, Ward of RR2 Petersburg. six daughters. Mrs. Kenneth (June) Evans of RR2 Branchton, Mrs. Claude (Joy) Bowman of RR2 Petersburg. Mrs. Harold (Gloria) Warner of Conestogo, Mrs. Stuart (Claudine) Schmitt of Elmira, Mrs. Donald (Marilyn) Warner of Bayfield, Marie, at home; 39 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Alfred Carl Geisel in 1959; her grandson Dale Murray in 1977. Ward will be lovingly remembered by his wife and soulmate of 29 years, Joanne, his sisters Claudine (late George Koyich ) and Marie (Albert Diechert), his children, Bill (Audrey), Doris (Richard Schaefer), Wendy (Morris Berg), Pam (Klaus Bishoph), Darryl and Gary and his step-children Diana (Calvin Brydges) and Earnest (Allison Ethelstone). Ward leaves behind many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Ward will be sadly missed by his best friend Douglas "my son" Robertson.     SCHMIDT, Ward William It is with great sadness that the family of Ward William Schmidt of Hanover, Ontario announces his passing after a brief illness, on September 17, 2017, in his 89th year.     The gates of Heaven opened wide and this special person walked inside, died peacefully at Woodstock Hospital on Monday, September 11, 2017 in her 87th year.

    Loving wife of Ken. Loving mother of Terry Warner, Nancy (Al) Burgers, Jim Warner, Karen Hallman (Ben), Lynette (Russ) Blackwell, and step-daughter Terralene (Ron) Johnston.

    Loving grandmother of Michael Warner, Leslie Olaskey, Grant Hallman, Ryan Taylor and step-grandmother to Robert, Tyler, Krystalyn and Kieran Johnston. Great-grandma to five grandchildren. Gloria is survived by her brother Ward (Joanne) Schmidt, sisters, Claudine Koyich, Marie (Albert) Deichert and many nieces and nephews.

    Mom was a very talented lady who was called "The Angel Lady". She crafted over a thousand angels out of basically nothing into a work of art, putting love in everyone. Mom also had a great sense of humour and will be greatly missed by all.

    Predeceased by parents Alfred and Elvira Geisel, In-laws Cornelius and Matlida Rumig, Joe and Dorothy Yosurack, Cliff and Helen Bolduc, Louis Rumig, and Pat Goldbeck. Also by nephews Grant Rumig, Johnny Yosurack and Dale Murray.

    Don was a long standing employee of Superior Box and Koch Transport until his retirement in 2000. He also enjoyed coaching minor sports hockey, baseball and softball teams in Waterloo and acting GM for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays from his arm chair. He played for both the Waterloo Siskins and Waterloo Chippers hockey teams and enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting activities.

    Friends are invited to share their memories of Don with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 7-9 pm and Wednesday, June 19, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Louis RC Church, 53 Allen Street East, Waterloo, on Thursday, June 20, at 10:30am with the Rev. Jim Valk, CR as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. Reception will be held at the Parish Hall of the Church.

    Ruth Marie Bowman, aged 9, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Bowman, RR 2, Petersburg, died at her home last week. Besides her parents, she is survived by sisters Barbara and Beverly, at home; grandparents, Mrs. J. Bowman, Drumbo, and Mr. and Mrs. E. Schmidt, RR 1, Petersburg.

    The funeral took place Saturday from St. James' Lutheran Church, Mannheim, with interment in the church cemetery.
