    Notes:

    William Lockie was born on July 20, 1872 a son of John Lockie and Annie Scott. Mr. Lockie was a director of the South Waterloo Agricultural Society for many years and was the society's president in 1938. He was also a director of the North Dumfries and South Waterloo Mutual Fire Insurance Company from 1931 to 1940 and of the North Dumfries Plowmen's Association for a number of years. Mr. Lockie sat as a councillor on the North Dumfries township council from 1924 to 1927 and was the North Dumfries township reeve in 1928 and 1929. He died on June 25, 1940 and is buried in Mount View Cemetery.

    WILLIAM LOCKIE DIED HERE TODAY

    One of the most respected residents of North Dumfries township, William Lockie, passed away this morning in his 68th year. Death came after an illness of three weeks duration, but Mr. Lockie had not been in good health for the past year. With his passing this district loses one who, throughout his life, had been active in community interests, Mr. Lockie was active in his church, in municipal life and in all spheres for the well being of the district. He was an active and attentive worker of First United church and was on the board of managers for many years, up until the time of his death. He served as councillor on the North Dumfries township council from the years, 1924 to 1927 inclusive and in the years, 1928 and 1929 held the office of reeve. Mr. Lockie was a director for many years of the South Waterloo agricultural society and headed this organization as president, in 1938. He was a director of the North Dumfries plowmen's association, for many years and had been a director of the North Dumfries and South Waterloo fire insurance company, since 1931. Mr. Lockie was the son of the late John Lockie and Annie Scott. He was born on the family homestead of Locksco farm, which he operated with his brother, Alex Lockie. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Hall; two brothers, Thomas Lockie, West River road and Alex, Sprague's road and two sisters, Mrs. John Alison, Galt, and Mrs. W. J. Carter, Mattoon, Ill. A sister, Mrs. Fred Forester, Toronto, predeceased him a year ago. The funeral will take place from the residence, on Thursday, at 2.30 p.m., with interment, in Mount View cemetery.

    McGRIGOR, Nora Seel (Alison) - It is with great sadness that the family announce Nora's passing on January 17, 2007. Nora was the loving wife of the late Murray McGrigor and was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Nora Petras. She is survived by her son-in-law, William Petras; her grandchildren, David and Joan Petras of Waterloo and Janet Petras and Sarah Hunter of White Rock, B.C. and three great-grandchildren, Sam and John Petras of Waterloo and Kate Petras Hunter of White Rock, B.C. Nora was devoted to her family and friends. She hosted countless family dinners, stayed in close touch with her large circle of friends and gave a helping hand wherever she could. Kind and gentle to the end, she always thought of others before herself. Her faith was strong. It was a tremendous comfort to her throughout her life especially during her last days. Nora dedicated herself to her community. She had served as President of the Central Church Presbyterian Women, President of the Y.W.C.A., Regent of the HLI-IODE, President of the Silver Star, President of the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Director of Districts for the Ontario Women's Auxiliary Associations, Chairman of the Family Service Bureau, Chairman of the Board of Cambridge Memorial Hospital and a member of the Regional Health Council. She received the Queen's Silver Jubilee Medal, was Cambridge Citizen of the Year in 1976 and was presented with a medal by Lt. Gov. Lincoln Alexander at the Hospital's lOOth anniversary. She was inducted into the Cambridge Hall of Fame in 1997 and awarded a Mel Osborne Fellowship by the Cambridge Kiwanis Club. Friends will be received at Little's Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 223 Main St., E, Cambridge on Friday January 19, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at Central Presbyterian Church, Queen's Square, Cambridge on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Aubrey Botha officiating. Interment Mount View Cemetery.
