Schwartzentruber, Christ E., son of Daniel and Barbara (Erb) Schwartzentruber, was born in Wilmot Twp., Ont., Apr. 17, 1898; died at the K.W. Hospital, of a heart attack, June 28, 1970; aged 73 y. 2 m. 11 d. He was married to Mary Yanzie, who died in Apr. 1966. In Jan. 1968, he was married to Winnifred Lehman, who survives. Also surviving are 2 sons (Earl and Paul), 2 daughters (Ruth - Mrs. Roy Schlegel and Helen - Mrs. Delton Boshart), 2 stepsons (Carl Duckworth and Charles Lehman), one stepdaughters (Mrs. Thomas Kosch), and one brother (Allen). He was preceded in death by one sister (Mrs. Dan Lichti). He was a member of the Steinmans Church, where funeral services were held July 1, with Elmer Grove and Elmer Schwartzentruber officiating; interment in the church cemetery.

SCHLEGEL, Ruth B. - Ruth Barbara Schlegel, 87, of Tavistock, passed away at her residence, on Monday, April 4, 2005. She was born in Wilmot Township, Waterloo County on February 4, 1918, a daughter of the late Christian E. Schwartzentruber and the former Mary Jantzi. She married LeRoy "Roy" Schlegel in Wilmot Township on June 3, 1936. He predeceased her on December 26, 1983. Mother was a beautiful hostess and was known for her generous hospitality and her cooking abilities in summer camps and nursing homes. Following their marriage she and Roy farmed in Wilmot Township until they founded the People Care Tavistock Nursing Center in 1968. She was a member of Wilmot Mennonite Church. She was lovingly cared for by Myrna Simon, Eva McLaren and Kathryn Fletcher and passed away peacefully in her home. She will be missed by family and friends, but fond memories of her will be treasured in our hearts forever. Ruth is survived by her children, Donald and wife Ann Schlegel who reside on the Schlegel Family Homestead at RR2, Petersburg; Mary and husband 0'Derald Gingerich of Baden, Robert and wife Myrna Schlegel of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Glenda and husband Bruce Comfort, Carolyn and husband Hughbee Brown, Heidi and husband Mark Tadeson, Wendy and husband Bruce Lantz, O. Duane and wife Janice Gingerich, Brent and wife Heather Gingerich, Kimberly and husband Justin Whitman, R. Kirby Schlegel, Kari Schlegel and Krystal Schlegel; sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen and husband Delton Boshart of New Hamburg; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Schwartzentruber of New Hamburg, Ruth and Lorne Kropf and Florence Schlegel, all of Tavistock and Reta Baechler of Stratford. She was predeceased by her brothers, Earl Schwartzentruber and wife Marjorie, Paul Schwartzentruber and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Clara Schlegel, Earl Schlegel, Wilfred and Emma Schlegel and Floyd Baechler. Relatives and friends will be received in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Ruth's life will be held at Steinman Mennonite Church, Wilmot Township, RR2, Baden on Thursday, April 7, 2005 at 2 p.m. Pastor Renee Sauder will officiate. Interment in Wilmot Centre Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Mennonite Central Committee or Wilmot Mennonite Church would be appreciated and may be made through the funeral home.

A son of the late Christian and Mary (Jantzi) Schwartzentruber. Beloved husband of the late Marjorie (Steinmann) Schwartzentruber who predeceased him in 1994.

She was formerly of Wilmot Centre and was born 84 years ago in Wilmot Townhip a daughter of the late Christian & Mary (Jantzi) Schwartzentruber. She was a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, R. R. # 2, Baden. Helen enjoyed gardening, cooking and mending as her hobbies. Helen loved to take care of and nurture a number of foster children. Beloved wife of Delton Boshart of Nithview Home, whom she married June 23, 1943. Loving mother of Carol & Dave Schwartz, Cathy & Bill Knipfel all of Baden, Brenda & Al Atchison of Stratford, Jim & Wendy Boshart, Sue & Rick Erb all of New Hamburg, Joyce & Mark Schwartzentruber of New Dundee, and Larry Boshart of Waterloo. Also missed by 19 grandchildren and 11 great grand children. Dear sister-in-law of Mary Schwartzentruber, Alice Riehl and Edna Boshart all of New Hamburg. Helen was predeceased by a great-grandson Nicholas Atchison, sister Ruth and Roy Schlegel, brothers Earl & Marjorie Schwartzentruber and Paul Schwartzentruber. Also predeceased by brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law Elmer & Barbara Boshart, Ruby & John Miles, Jerry Riehl and Floyd Boshart. Visitation for friends and relatives will be at Steinmann Mennonite Church, Snyders Rd., Baden, today (Tuesday) from 7-9 p.m. & Wednesday 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 2.00 p.m with Pastor Myrna Dyck officiating.
