    St. Clements - The death of Loretta the five year old daughter of Mrs. Henry Brenner St. Clements took place at her home on Friday, Oct. 5th. For some days the little one complained of a sore throat which developed into a serious case of diphtheria, causing death. The disease being of a contagious nature, the funeral was a private one. The little one's brother, Alex., left in September on the harvester's excursion for the west, has not yet returned. Her sister, Appie, is in Berlin, and owing to the quarantine was not allowed to see deceased, which makes the death a sad one for the bereaved.

    St. Clements

    Following close upon the before named sad event came the news of the death of one just entering young womanhood, Miss Marie Elizabeth Kuntz in her 19th year. The deceased was the oldest daughter of David Kuntz living one mile south of St. Clements. She had been ill for some 4 weeks laid up with that dreadful disease Typhoid Fever and for some time past little hope was entertained for her recovery. Death came on Sunday evening 11 o'clock. The funeral took place on Thursday Feb. 2nd to the local R. C. cemetery attended by a large concourse of friends [sic]. We extend to the parents and friends our profound sympathy in their untimely bereavement.

    Find Body of Missing Man in Paradise Lake

    ST. CLEMENTS. The body - of Otto Kuntz, 60, an unmarried resident of this village, was recovered from the water of Paradise Lake about noon on Sunday. Kuntz had been missing from the village since noon Friday

    Discovery of the body was made by Harold Lpipert, Jr., 17. son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lippert, 119 Young St., Kitchener. The Lippert family has a cottage at the lake, and their son was bathing at the Kiwanis Camp dock.

    Encountering a strange object on the lake bottom, he called over Barry Hibbert, 9, also of Kitchener, who was rowing a boat. After efforts to recover the body with an oar were unsuccessful, Lippert called the police.

    Provincial Constables Petty and Scherer from Kitchener removed the body from the water. Kuntz, they said, was fully had apparently clothed and had fallen or walked from the end of the dock.

    Authorities pronounced death accidental and no inquest will be held.

    Mr. Kuntz, a caretaker of St. Clements R.C. Church, was born here May 20, 1888. He was a son of the late David Kuntz and his mother, the former Anna Martin, St. Clements, survives him.

    Surviving are two brothers, Samuel, Regina, Sask.; Joseph, Vantage, Sask., four sisters, Mrs. Harry (Madelaine) Lienhardt, Kitchener; Mrs. Thomas (Clara) Farrell, Caron, Sask.; Miss Katherine, Toronto; Miss Anna, New York, N.Y.

    Interment was made in St. Clements R.C. cemetery.

    A west-bound Grand River Railway freight train of 15 cars struck an automobile at a level crossing near the Freeport Sanatorium Sunday afternoon.

    Simon Bender, 62, and his wife 59, of St. Clements, were killed when the car was struck, and Lucy Kuntz, 13, died soon after being
    taken to hospital. The car itself was carried 500 ft. by the train. Mrs. Peter Kuntz, a sister of Mrs. Bender, Mrs. Michael Prokopowicz, daughter of Mrs. Kuntz and driver of the vehicle, were injured.
