    Notes:

    Holst, Eli, son of the late George and Louisa (Hartung) Holst was born March 12, 1891; died at his home near Haysville, Ont., Nov. 30, 1941; aged 50 y. 8 m. 18 d. In June, 1908, he was baptized upon confession and received into the Mennonite Church, in which faith he died. He was united in marriage to Elsie Burrows Jan. 1, 1921, who survives him with 4 children (Dorothy, Elmeta, Gladys, and Clayton) all at home. One daughter (Verna), died in, infancy. He also leaves 2 brothers and 2 sisters (Jacob of Pinehill, David of Petersburg, Mrs. Mary Ann Burchatski of New Hamburg and Mrs. Isaiah Martin of Pinehill). He suffered much pain during his illness of several years but was patient, realizing that Christ, in whom he trusted suffered more for him. Funeral services were held Dec. 3 from his home to Geiger Mennonite church and cemetery in charge of Bros. M. H. Roth and M. Hallman.

    Eli married Elsie Burrows 1 Jan 1921. Elsie was born 1900; died 1990; was buried , Wilmot Mennonite (formerly Geiger) Cemetery, Wilmot, Waterloo Region, Ontario. [Group Sheet]

    ROTH, Mrs. Elmeta (Hoist)

    Monday, May 2, 1983, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, after a brief illness, Mrs. Elmeta Roth, age 58, of 168 Snyders Rd. W., Baden.

    Beloved wife of Nelson Earl Roth, whom she married in 1943. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Larry of Kitchener, Jeanette (Mrs. David Quast) of RR 2, Baden, Leonard and his wife Dale of Fox Creek, Alta., Judy (Mrs. Ernst Dreher) of RR 2, Petersburg, Debbie (Mrs. Waid Hoffman) of Baden, David of Cambridge (P), Gregory, at home. Also surviving are her mother, Elsie and her step-father, Lavercy Leis of RR 2, New Hamburg; nine grandchildren, a brother Clayton Hoist of Milverton and two sisters, Dorothy (Mrs Daniel Zehr) of New Hamburg, Gladys (Mrs. Arthur Leis) of RR 1, Shakespeare. She was predeceased by her father, the late Eli Hoist; one sister, Verna and one grand-son.

    Rested at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, New Hamburg Chapel, 291 Huron St., until noon today, May 4, when transfer was made to Wilmot Centre Missionary Church, for service at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Glen Gibson officiating. Interment in Wilmot Centre cemetery.

    Notes:

    Holst. - Verna Lillian, infant daughter of Eli and Elsie Holst, near New Hamburg, Ont., died Aug. 20, 1932; aged 1 y. 3 m. 27 d., after being ailing for several months. Her life on this earth was short, but we know she has gone where sin and sorrow are unknown. God saw fit to take this dear little one from us for He had need of her over there.

    "Ere sin could blight, or sorrow fade,
    Death came with friendly care,
    This little bud to heaven conveyed
    And bade it blossom there."


    Before passing away she smilingly stretched out her little arms as if to go to someone. She leaves her parents and three little sisters. Funeral services were conducted on Aug. 22 at the home by Bro. Osias Cressman and at the Geiger Church by Bro. Moses H. Roth assisted by Bro. Cressman. Text, Job 1: 21. Interment in the adjoining cemetery.

    Holst, Clayton Wallace,

    Passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Stratford General Hospital on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. He was born in Wilmot Township 77 years ago.

    Loving husband of Barbara Holst (nee Lease) of Milverton.

    Dear father of Brian, Wallace, Betty (Bruce Heinbuch), Jamie (Carrie), Nelson (Karen), Brenda. Sadly missed by grandchildren Jordan, Cody, Josh, and Courtney Heinbuch, Heather Gascho (Cory), Ethan and Alexis Zettler and by great-granddaughter Cali, brother-in-law Arthur Leis and by several nieces and nephews. Also remembered by sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law Rosemary Fowlie, Andy & Dianne Lease, George & Cathy Lease, Wanda Hillcoff, Joanne & Brian Hinz.

    Predeceased by his parents Eli and Elsie Holst, step father Lavercy Leis, sisters Elmeta & Nelson Roth, Gladys Leis, Dorothy & Danny Zehr and Verna Holst in infancy, brothers-in-law Albert Fowlie, Bill Hillcoff and sister-in-law Eleanor Smith. Clayton was the last surviving member of his family.

    Visitation at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 7 Spencer Street, Milverton on Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and Saturday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Milverton Mennonite Fellowship at 2:00 p.m.. Pastor Dawne Driedger officiating.

    As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Associations, or the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
