    RITES FOR MOSES GINGERICH, PINE GROVE, TO BE TUESDAY

    Lowville, Oct. 10. Funeral for Moses Gingerich, 70, of Pine Grove, who died Saturday morning in Lewis County General hospital after an illness of three weeks, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Conservative Mennonite church, Croghan, with Rev. Lloyd Boshart, pastor, officiating. A prayer service will be held at the family home at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Conservative Mennonite church cemetery, Croghan.

    The body was removed from the Virkler funeral home to his home at Pine Grove where friends may call, Mr. Gingerich was born at
    Baden, Ont., Sept. 4, 1890, a son of Daniel and Fanney Lichti Gingerich. He came to the United States in 1924 and had lived in the Lowville area since then. He married Nettie Boshart, July 22, 1913 in Wilmott county, Ont.

    Besides his wife he is sur-vived by four daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Violet) Bass, Watertown; Mrs. Malcom (Rita) Western, Lowville Mrs. Haruld (Alice) Moshier, Beaver Falls, and Mrs. Richard (Frances) Burlingame, Castorland; four sons, Clifford, Constableville; Gordon, Lowville; Howard, Constableville, and Vernon, Carlsbad, N.M.; 25 grandchil- dren; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Aron (Saviera) Lehman, Castorland; Mrs. Aron (Fanny) Mosher, Lowville; Mrs. Manas (Olive) Cress- man, Kitchener, Ont., and Miss Tilly Gingerich, also of Kitchener, and four brothers, David Gingerich of Batavia; Henry, of Ontario; William of Copenhagun, and Samuel of Croghan.

    BAST, VIOLET, daughter of Moses and Nettie (Boshart) GINGERICH, was born in St. Agatha, Ont., Aug. 24, 1913; died Oct. 13, 1968, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, N. Y. where she had undergone open-heart surgery four days earlier; aged 55 y. 1 m. 19 d. On May 14, 1931, she was married to Elmer Bast, who preceded her in death 10 days before her surgery, Sept 26, 1968. Surviving are 4 sons (Robert, Lawson, Kenneth, and Durwood), 3 daughters (Betty--Mrs. Earle Widrick, Mary Jane--Mrs. John L. Stoffer, and Marjorie--Mrs. Warren Weidner), 14 grandchildren, her mother, 4 brothers (Clifford, Gordon, Howard, and Vernon), and 3 sisters (Reta--Mrs. Malcolm Western, Alice--Mrs. Harold Moshier, and Frances--Mrs. Richard Burlingame). She was a member of the Woodville Church. Funeral services were held at the Croghan Church, with Elmer Moser and Andrew Gingerich officiating; interment in the Croghan Mennonite Cemetery.

    Mrs. Violet Bast Dead


    BLACK RIVER-Mrs. Violet Gingerich Bast, 55, Black River, R. D. 1, widow of Elmer Bast, died Sunday morning in St. Joseph's hospital, Syracuse, where she had un dergone open heart surgery Wednesday.3 1968

    Long in poor health with asthma. the heart surgery had been planned, even before the death of her husband on Sept. He died unexpectedly at the age of 59, of a coronary aftack suffered while unloading grain from a truck on his farm. Local residents had responded to a call for B positive blood for Mrs. Bast's operation.

    Friends may call at the Virkler funeral home. Lowville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9: pm today.

    Mrs. Bast is survived by four sons, Robert. Theresa road. Watertown, R. D. 2. Lawson E. and E. Kenneth, town. R D. 2. and Durwood. Lancaster, Pa.: three daughters.     Born in Baden, Ont., Aug. 24, 1913, Mrs. Bast was the daughter of Mrs. Nettie Bos bart Gingerich and the late Moses Gingerich, In Martina both of Middleroad, Waterburg, on May 14, 1931, she was married to Elmer Bast, a native of Kitchener, Ont

    Mr. and Mrs Bast had owned and operated farms in various locations in Jefferson county before moving to their present farm three years ago. Mrs. Bast was a member of Woodville Mennonite

    Notes:

    The death took place from pneumonia at Baden on Monday, March 29th, of Eileen Gingerich, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Gingerich, at the age of 1 year and 28 days. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from the parents' residence to Steinman's church and cemetery.

    Eileen Gingerich, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Gingerich, of Baden died on the 29th of March of pneumonia at the age of 1 year and 1 month. The bereaved family have the sympathy of their many friends.

    OWVILLE - Gordon Gingerich, 94, Dowling Park, Fla., formerly of Division Street, died Saturday morning, January 9 at his extended care residence.

    Born on February 22, 1921, in Baden, Ont., son of the late Moses and Nettie Boshart Gingerich. He attended schools in New Bremen, West Martinsburg, and Lowville School and Free Academy.

    He married Loretta Zehr on June 3, 1945 in the First Mennonite Church of New Bremen.

    Gordon worked for Crown Zellerbach as an electrician for 11 years. He opened his own business, Lowville Electric, until 1973. He was an electrical inspector until 1978. He and Loretta moved to Bradenton, Florida in 1980. He operated his own electrical business, Heritage Electric, for 10 years. He was a member of the Copenhagen and then the Lowville Rural Fire Department for many years. He enjoyed spending time at Chase Lake where he had built two camps. He also enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with his family.

    Surviving are his wife; a daughter; two sons. Gordon was also survived by his grandchildren; also great-grandchildren.

    He was pre-deceased by his wife Loretta; brothers Clifford, Howard, Vernon and his sisters Violet Bast, Rita Western, Alice Moshier, and Frances Burlingame. A grandson, Zachary Komorowski, also died before him.

    A memorial service will be held in Florida at Beulah Baptist Church.

    There will be a service with burial in West Lowville, in late August, for family and friends.
