AMOS BRUBACHER

Amos Brubacher, 74, of RR 3, Wallenstein, died suddenly New Year's Day. Born in Woolwich Township, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Brubacher.

Surviving are his wife, the former Susannah Horst; three sons, John and Amos, both of RR 3, Wallenstein, and Tilman at home; and two daughters, Mrs. Anson (Adina) Bauman of RR 1, Bamberg, and Mrs. Joseph (Katie) Metzger of RR 1, St. Jacobs. There are 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are six brothers and two sisters. Two sons and one daughter predeceased him.

The body is at the home where the funeral will be conducted Friday at 9 a.m. Service at South Peel Mennonite Meeting House will be followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Moses Brubacher of RR 1, Waterloo, age 73, died suddenly at his late residence on Tuesday, September 15, 1959. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Moses Brubacher Sr., was born in Woolwich township, July 21, 1886.

Surviving are his wife the former Leavea Frey, three sons, Christian of Wallenstein, Gleason of RR 3, Waterloo, Sidney of RR 1, Waterloo. Two daughters, Mrs. Sidney (Melvina) Weber, R.R 2, West Montrose, Mrs. Moses (Elmeda) Weber RR 3, Elmira, Four brothers, Henry of RR 1 St. Jacobs, Levi of Elmira, Israel of St. Jacobs, Menno of Elmira. The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira, until Friday when removal was made to the home of Cleason Clemmer, St. Jacobs. The funeral was conducted There Saturday followed by further services at the Conestogo Mennonite Meeting House, Three Bridges. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

Aden was a long time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kitchener. He served with the Canadian Infantry in Europe during the Second World War. After the war, Aden worked as a general labourer at the Lang Tanning Company in Kitchener for a number of years and at numerous other companies in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. The family will receive friends at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home , this evening (Thursday) 7-9 p.m. and Friday afternoon 2-4 p.m. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W. Israel Brubacher, of Mine Centre, ON, passed into eternal rest on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the age of 75 years, five months and one day. He was born on May 19, 1937 in Wellesley Township, ON to John and Lovina (Martin) Brubacher. On June 16, 1959 he was united in marriage to Lovina Martin of West Montrose, ON. They enjoyed over 53 years together. In 1975 they moved with their family to the Rainy River District, ON, where they farmed near Stratton. In 1985 they moved to Mine Centre, ON, where he resided until his death. He is survived by his beloved wife Lovina, of Mine Centre, ON, and six children: Mervin and (Selina) of Barwick, ON; Marie of Barwick; Shirly of Mine Centre; Willis of Mine Centre, Clare and (Charlene) of Emo, ON, and Marilyn of Mine Centre, as well as eleven grandchildren: Marlene, Philip, Galen, Lauretta, Kathryn, Joanne, Nathan, Joseph, Vincent, Taimi, and Sean. He is survived by four brothers: Isaac and (Leona) of Linwood, ON; Henry and (Sarah) of Linwood, ON; Clarence and (Elmeda) of Wallenstein, ON; Emanuel and (Velina) of Hawkesville, ON, as well as one sister, Elizabeth, of Floradale, ON. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Lovina; one sister, Susannah, who died in her youth as a result of a traffic accident. Israel was a member of the Mine Centre Mennonite church. He enjoyed the fellowship of his church family, as well as the friendship of people in many communities he had opportunity to learn to know over the years. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the Northridge Funeral Home, Emo, Ont from 2-4 p.m.; followed by visitation from 6-8 p.m. at the Pineview Mennonite Church, Barwick, Ont. In October 1966, Susannah was on a carriage with friends when they were hit by a car. She was badly hurt, and her friend from Pennsylvania died as a result.

In the spring of the following year, Susannah had recovered enough to take a trip to Pennsylvania to visit her friend's gravesite. While there, she became ill and died from the effects of the earlier accident.

Her friend from Pennsylvania came to Canada and died, and Susannah went to Pennsylvania and died.

Rich started his career as an auto mechanic at his father's garage in St. Jacobs before joining Home Hardware in 1989. He was a volunteer firefighter in St. Jacobs for 10 years and a huge fan of hockey, especially Junior B where he spent several years as a player scout before winning the Sutherland Cup with the Cambridge Winterhawks in 2000. Rich was inspired by the "Hockeyville" contest and wanted to wish the community of Woolwich the best of luck as they continue their pursuit of the "Hockeyville" title. Everyone will miss his sense of humour and outgoing nature. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home , Elmira on Tuesday, February 24th from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. A Memorial Service to celebrate Rich's life will be held at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church on Wednesday, February 25th at 2: 30 p.m. At Rich's request, cremation will take place.
