    WILLIAM GARFIELD TILK

    PRESTON. Nov. 11\emdash William Garfield Tilk, an employee of the Savage Shoe Company, for the past 16 years, dropped dead from a heart attack, suffered while at work this morning. He was 61 years old. A native of Galt, he came to Preston when a child and remained here ever since. He was a member of the original Preston Fire department until it was re-organised on a permanent basis in 1907. Three years later he rejoined the department and was a hose captain for a number of years. Active in sports as a youth, Mr. Tilk remained interested in athletic organisations in later years. He was a member of the Preston Cambridge Lodge and Victory Encampment. Surviving are his wife, the former Louisa Ruthig, one son, Albert and one daughter, Mrs. H. Meyers of Preston. One sister, Mrs. James Corrigan of Preston and three grandchildren also survive. The remains will be at the Gordon Pass Funeral Home, Preston, until Thursday morning when removal will be made to the late residence, 364 Vine Street. The funeral service will be held Friday at 2.30 pm.

    Formerly of Hamilton Street, Cambridge on Sunday, May 9, 2004, at Hotel Dieu Hospital, St. Catharines, in her 94th year. Iva-Delle Tilk, beloved wife of the late Harold Meyer (1965). Dear mother of Bill Meyers and his wife Joan of Saugeen Shores, ON and the late Pamela Pratt (2002). Lovingly remembered by six grandchildren, Cathy (Brian) Ross of Severn Bridge, Bill (Susan) Meyers of Clinton, Heather Pratt (Larry) and Sharon (Stan) Chelmecki, all of St. Catherines, Brian (Marjorie) Pratt of Huntsville and Carolyn (Jim) Tripp of Warminster, ON; nine great-grandchildren and one son-in-law, Paul Pratt of Cambridge. Predeceased by her parents, William and Louise Tilk; daughter-in-law, Marion Freeman (1986) and one brother, Albert Tilk. Mrs. Meyer was born in Preston and had been a lifelong resident of the area until she moved to St. Catherines Place in 2002. She was a former member of the Queen Rebekah Lodge and a retiree of Savage Shoes. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. when Canon David Bowyer will conduct the service at the funeral home. Interment in New Preston Cemetery.

    Albert T. Tilk

    PRESTON - Albert T. Tilk, 50, of 954 Vine St., Preston, died today at his residence.

    Mr. Tilk was born in Preston and lived here all his life. He was employed for many years at Savage Shoe Co., Ltd. and was active in hockey, baseball and curling. He was a member of Preston Royal Canadian Legion branch and was affiliated with the United Church.

    Surviving are his wife, the former Muriel Johnson, one son, Kenneth of Toronto and one sister, Mrs. Harold Meyers, of Preston, and one grandchild.

    The body is at the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home where the service will be conducted Friday at 2 pm. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery. Rev. A. I. Waters of St. Paul's United Church will officiate.

    PRATT, Pamela (nee Meyer)

    Formerly of Cambridge (P). Peacefully, in her home, in St. Catharines, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002. Pam, loving and devoted mother, is survived by her children, Heather Pratt (Larry Janzen) of St. Catharines, Brian Pratt (Marjorie) of Huntsville, Sharon Chelmecki (Stan) of Rockwood and Carolyn Tripp (James) of Warminster. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Jonathan, Christopher, Kevin. Alyssa and Holly. Dear daughter of IvaDelle Meyer, formerly of Cambridge; sister of Bill Meyers (Joan) of Southhampton and aunt to Cathy Ross (Brian) and Bill Meyers (Susan). Sincere appreciation to Karolina Vesela and to Pam's many caring friends. Their loving support and generous natures were integral in providing the comfort and spiritual peace needed in her final days. Pam retired from the College of Education at Brock University in June 2001, where she worked for over 20 years. She had also been a longtime member of Queen St. Baptist Church. Friends and family will be received at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court St., St. Catharines, for visitation on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at Queen St. Baptist Church, 57 Queen St., St. Catharines on Monday at 3: 30 p.m. Pam will be laid to rest beside her father. Harold Meyer, in a private service in Cambridge, on Tuesday. Heaven's gates will open wide to welcome this most wonderful lady.
