    Notes:

    Edward George Heise a lifelong resident of Preston. First employed by Judge Clement R. Hanning, then by Harry C. Edgar and later as an account by Hurlbut Shoe Co. In 1927 he was elected to a seat on Preston council, next year resigning to become Preston's Clerk/Treasurer, resigning in 1954 due to ill health.

    E. G. Heise, Ex-Preston Clerk, Dies

    PRESTON - Edward George Heise, 71, town clerk here for 37 years, died today at South Waterloo Memorial Hospital, Galt. He had been in poor health for several years, and retired the end of 1954 for that reason. Mr. Heise was born in Preston and was a life-long resident. He was employed by Judge J. R. Hanning for some years, than was with A. C. Edgar, who was secretary of the light and water commission. Mr. Heise's interest in municipal affairs was maintained from that time, although be was an accountant later at the Hurlbut Shoe Company before making a career of municipal service. He was a member of council at one time. He was a member of the Masonic Order, and attended St. John's Anglican Church. Survivors include his wife, the former Frances Gothorpe; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Joan) Smith, Calgary, two granddaughters and six sisters, Miss Elizabeth Heise, Preston; Mrs. J. (Emma) Mumford, Freeport, Miss Dorothea Heise, Toronto; Mrs. C. C. (Louise) Hahn, RR 1, Preston; Mrs. Lottie Thorer, Lansing, Mich. and Mrs. E. (Clare) Riley, Peterboro. The body will be at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home until Monday afternoon, when the funeral service will be conducted at two o'clock in St. John's Anglican Church, with burial in Parkiawn Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined.
