Bonners Observe Golden Wedding
Sanborn, Iowa. April 20. - Mr. and Mrs. John E. Bonner enjoyed having a group of their relatives and friends come to their home Tuesday afternoon and evening to extend congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
On Monday, Mrs. Bonner's sister, Mrs. C. A. Hakeman, entertained at a one o'clock dinner at her home in their honor. At this dinner another sister, Mrs. J. H. Peacock and husband, of Rock Rapids, and their daughter-in-law, Mrs. W. Peacock, of Des Moines, were also guests. A lovely centerpiece was an angel food cake with yellow and white decorations, baked and presented to Mr. and Mrs. Bonner by Miss Erma Jackson.
When the guests were entertained at their home on Tuesday, pieces of this wedding cake were served with lemon sherbet.
The couple received many cards, flowers and remembrances. A fine easy chair was given them by relatives.
John E. Bonner and Archlista Snider were married at Sanborn, April 18, 1894. They lived in or near Sanborn until 1904, when they ment[sic] to South Dakota and lived at Frederick and then at Valley Springs. They returned to Sanborn in 1910 and lived here for three years, then going to Belmont, Mont., which was their home for 30 years. Last December they again returned to Sanborn to retire and celebrated their golden wedding in the town where they were married.
Mrs. Bonner was born in Canada and came to Sanborn when 18 years of age; Mr. Bonner was born at Benton, Wisc., and came to the Sanborn vicinity with his parents when a young boy. Both are in fairly good health; although they enjoy the comfort of home as most people do as they approach old age, they greatly enjoyed this occasion and personally gave a hearty welcome to all the callers. - Pioneer.
