Notes |
- We have to-day to chronicle the death of Balthaser Miller. Deceased had been sick for a few days but nothing serious was expected, when, on getting up on Wednesday afternoon, he suddenly collapsed from heart failure. Though afflicted with misfortune of being deaf and dumb he had spent several terms at the Institute for the Deaf and Dumb at Belleville, where he learned to read and write, and where his natural talent for wood-working was further developed. He never had any difficulty in securing a situation and worked for many years in various shops in Elmira. For the last year of so he has been staying with his brother George on the farm. The funeral will be held from the latter place at 1: 30 o'clock this (Saturday) afternoon. Burial will take place at the Oswald cemetery two miles east of Elmira, after which a funeral service will be held in St. James Luth. church, Elmira. Deceased leaves, to mourn his departure, his aged mother, four brothers, three sisters and many other relatives.
