      15 NOVEMBER, 1949 \endash 25 JULY, 2023

On July 25, 2023, Bryan Russel Shaver passed away peacefully surrounded by his children at the age of 73.
Bryan was the eldest child of his predeceased parents, Donald R. Shaver and Kathleen (McNanney) Shaver. Bryan was also predeceased by his brother Larry.

Bryan is survived by his long-time partner, Audrey Bechtel.

Bryan was a loving father to his eldest son, Blake, daughter, Brooke, son Jeffrey and grandson, Aiden.

Bryan is also survived by his sisters; Karen Radovanovic (John), Lori Ann Hatt (Charles (D)), Sandy Shaver (Jim). He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Bryan was born in Woodstock, Ontario on November 15, 1949, and he grew up in Preston and remained a Preston boy. He was a graduate of Preston High School and worked at the Canadian General Tower Limited until he retired. Bryan took pleasure in sports. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years and was an avid dart player. He proudly watched his grandson, Aiden, play hockey and baseball. Bryan had a passion for vintage cars and attending car shows. The iconic Friday 13th Biker Event in Port Dover was a favourite pastime where he would ride his motorcycle to the Rally as often as possible.

Bryan was a devout family man and father. He spent many summers with his children, siblings, and parents at Aunt Karen's and Uncle John's enjoying the family pool and camping. Bryan and the children also delighted in favourite summer excursions on Uncle Larry's boat in Port Dover. Bryan's neighbours on Eleanor Avenue remember him as an energetic, fun-loving young man, and a happy go lucky guy with a good laugh. People at work always thought Bryan had a great sense of humour. Bryan loved the game of euchre. The whole family did. Friday and Saturday nights were a ritual of card-playing competition around Grampa's homemade poker table with family and friends.

Our hearts still ache in sadness,

      And secret tears still flow,

What it means to lose you,

      No one will ever know.

Cremation has taken place and Bryan will be interred at Park Lawn Cemetery, Cambridge.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 12:00 \endash 1:00 pm at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road in Cambridge.
