- STAGER, Charles H. A. At Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Wednesday morning, Aug. 4, 1982, Charles Stager, formerly of Golden Years Nursing Home and St. Luke's Place, in his 85th year. Beloved husband of the late Lily Baker Stager (1977); dear father of Harry A. Stager of Cambridge and Mrs. Frances Wilson of Toronto; dear brother of Harold K. Stager of Cambridge. Also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation at the funeralhome, A memorial service will be held in St. Luke's United Church, Cambridge on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 8, at 3 p.m.

Charles Stager: former reeve Memorial service for former Town of Hespeler Reeve
Charles H. A. Stager will be held Sunday at 3 pm in St. Luke's United Church. Mr. Stager, 84, formerly of St. Luke's Place and Golden Years Nursing Home died yesterday in Cambridge Memorial Hospital. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Stager, he was born Aug. 2, 1898 in Hespeler. He was former reeve of the Town of Hespeler, a past warden of the County of Waterloo and a clerk-treasurer with the county. He retired from that post in 1966. Mr. Stager was a past master of the New Hope Masonic Lodge where he received his 50-year jewel. At age 73 he was the oldest Canadian to have completely walked the Bruce Trail. For many years he was a violinist with the K-W Philharmonic Orchestra. The second generation funeral director was a life-long active member of St. Luke's United Church. He was predeceased by his wife Lilly baker in 1977. Surviving are a son Harry A. of Cambridge, a daughter, Mrs. Frances Wilson of Toronto, a brother, Harold K. of Cambridge; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
