Notes |
- Mrs. Dolinda Lockie - Roseville, Oct. 12 - Death took another of the older residents of this village in the person of Mrs. Dolinda Lockie, who passed away early this morning at her home near here following a lingering illness. The deceased, who was in her 82nd year, had been a resident of this community practically all her life. Although she was born in Buffalo, N.Y., a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Myers, she came to Canada when quite young and resided with her parents at Greenfield. Since her marriage to the late William Lockie, who predeceased her 11 years ago, she had resided on the farm where she died, and which is now occupied by their son, David. The late Mrs. Lockie was a faithful member of Knox United Church, Ayr, up to the time of her serious illness several months ago and was well known here and had the respect of the whole community. Surviving are three sons, William (Young) of Winnipeg, Man.; George of Saskatchewan, and David, at home; also three sisters, Janet and Louise of Essex County, and Rose of Toronto, and two brothers, John of Greenfield and David of Essex. There are three grandchildren. There was a large attendance of old friends, neighbors and relatives at the funeral which took place to Ayr Cemetery on Monday afternoon. The services were in charge of Rev. J. W. Currie, pastor of Knox United Church, Ayr, assisted by Rev. L. H. Wagner, pastor of the Evangelical Church, Roseville. The pallbearers were six nephews of the deceased, as follows: Willard Gunn, Essex; Fred. Mitchell, Blenheim; Charles Gunn, Stanley Gunn, Rolland Maeder and Burton Myers, Ayr.
